CC Curator to Discuss Interdisciplinary Museum Programs at Conference

Jessica Hunter Larsen, curator of the Interdisciplinary Experimental Arts at Colorado College, will chair a session at the May 3 American Association of Museums conference in Philadelphia. Hunter Larsen will present a paper and lead the discussion on "Beyond Interpretation: Engaging Audiences through Interdisciplinary Collaboration." The session examines ways that museums and public galleries can overcome the significant "intimidation factor" that prevents people from going to a museums, particularly those perceived as targeted to specific audiences, such as children's museums and university galleries. "Beyond Interpretation" will examine how interdisciplinary programs expand beyond their niche markets to engage new audiences. Presenters will share examples of exhibition-related initiatives that incorporated interdisciplinary approaches to broaden audiences and re-engage existing audiences.
