Blending Education and Arts

Una Ng-Brasch, staff assistant in Colorado College's Education Department, and her husband Ron Brasch, were recognized as the Business Leaders in the Arts at the sixth annual Business & Arts Lunch on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The lunch honors business leaders who support the arts and businesses that integrate arts and creativity into their companies.

The involvement of Ng-Brasch and her husband, a merger and acquisitions specialist, in the local arts community goes well beyond financial giving. It is multifaceted and includes inspiring support for numerous art causes and projects. They have each served as leaders on various art organizations' boards, helping to advocate on behalf of the entire arts community. Ng-Brasch is currently on the boards of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District. Her creative skills and hobbies include painting, drawing, and writing. Ng-Brasch, who began working at CC in 2010, says, "The arts feed the soul of our community. Everything I do to support them is a labor of love."

Brasch is an award-winning poet who participates in the Smokebrush Foundation's Story Project and the Pikes Peak Library District's Poet Laureate program. He serves on the boards of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and UCCS's Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA). Una and Ron are avid collectors of contemporary artwork and fervent supporters of the visual arts.

The Business Leader in the Arts Award honors a person who shows leadership in the arts community in ways that go beyond financial giving and may include board experience, arts advocacy, or individual creativity. This individual supports mutual economic and community interests, helps build the capacity of the arts sector, and increases awareness of the benefits of the arts. The award is co-presented by the Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance and COPPeR, the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region.
