Austin Howlett ’15 Takes SCAC 3-Meter Crown

In the last Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference event of his remarkable career, Colorado College's Austin Howlett '15 won his third 3-meter diving title with a record-breaking effort on Feb. 13 at the Rockwall ISD Natatorium.

Howlett posted an 11-dive score of 595.5 points, which shattered the SCAC's previous standard of 535.45 set by Sewanee's Jon Morris in 1999. He eclipsed the record in the 10th round and now owns two of the top four 3-meter scores in the history of the conference championship.

CC's two-time All-American also broke his own school record by 20.70 points and easily surpassed the NCAA qualifying score of 440.

Howlett now has won six individual conference titles, which ties him for sixth all-time and second in school history at the conference meet. Fellow All-American Jordan DeGayner '12 won seven championships for the Tigers between 2010 and 2012.

The senior from Makawao, Hawaii, won the 3-meter diving in each of his first two seasons, but was unable to compete in the event at last year's championship due to an injury.

Howlett swept both diving events for the second time. He also won three consecutive 1-meter titles after finishing second as a freshman in 2012. He will compete in the NCAA Division III Diving Regional on Feb. 27-28 in San Antonio, Texas.
