This question often led to interesting conversations at individual tables, but Padilla will now answer this question in a systematic fashion. In this talk, she will describe many different schools of literature in the Southwest, the literary preferences of different eras, and she will recommend several different authors for you to search out and enjoy. He&nbsp;is the chair for the study of Islam at the American Academy of Religion,&nbsp;the largest international organization devoted to the academic study of&nbsp;religion.&nbsp;Omid is an award-winning teacher and speaker, and was nominated six times&nbsp;at Colgate University for the "Professor of the Year" award, and before&nbsp;that twice at Duke University for the Distinguished Lecturer award.&nbsp;He is the editor of the volume "Progressive Muslims: On Justice, Gender,&nbsp;and Pluralism" (Oxford: Oneworld Publications, 2003) where he inaugurated a new understanding of Islam which&nbsp;is rooted in social justice, gender equality, and religious/ethnic&nbsp;pluralism. At 6:30 p.m., Joe Barrera, CC alumnus and Vietnam War combat veteran, will&nbsp;read from his soon-to-be published novel,&nbsp;The War Story.&nbsp;Joe fought with the&nbsp;4th Infantry Division in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam. His performance will include both a drumming performance and a speech about Tourettes Syndrome.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>His percussion studies began at age two and include eight years as a student under the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra&rsquo;s lead percussionist. Over the years, Matt has won recognition for his skills through competitions and awards. Matt established Drum Echoes, Inc. to share his passion for percussion.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;As a composer, director, and presenter, Matt&rsquo;s dedication to conveying his inspirational message of perseverance and determination has touched national and international groups of all ages. Colorado College Artist in Residence Patrizia Herminjard will show <em>Trace</em>, an installation existing amongst Tunson's&nbsp;<em>Haitian Dream Boats</em> which revolves around three women who represent different stages of one woman's life.
