Seay Library Services for Visitors

While Colorado College is a private institution and our primary mission is to serve the educational needs of our students, we do make our collections open to the public as much as possible.

On this page:

Visiting the Seay Library

  • Please note that our hours may seem irregular due to the nature of our academic calendar and the Colorado College Block Plan.
  • To ensure the security of library patrons, at certain times we ask visitors to show ID.
  • Reference questions are always welcome, though our first priority is the Colorado College community.

Borrowing Music

We offer limited borrowing privileges for community members.

Article and Information Databases

In most cases, visitors to the library can use our article and information databases while visiting the library and logged into a library computer (see computer use policy below).

Seay Library Computer Use Policy

As a community service, Seay Library provides public patrons the opportunity to use the rich resources of our library to accomplish their research. Our computers offer access to all the library resources that are available to the CC community. You must ask at the Circulation Desk to be logged on each time you visit.

The following resources are available for use:

  • TIGER online catalog
  • Periodical and reference databases licensed by Tutt
  • Government Document resources
  • Special Collections materials
  • Internet resources

To make the best use of your time and discover all the resources available to you, ask a librarian to assist you with your research. Please be aware that librarians must give priority to CC students, faculty and staff. If it is busy, you may not receive prompt service.

Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis (no reservations). If other public patrons are waiting, you will be limited to 30 minutes. If a member of the CC community needs your computer, you will be asked to surrender it. Printing and copying are available at no charge.

The following activities are not allowed:

  • Commercial activities (including eBay and day trading)
  • Visiting adult Web sites
  • Games

Privacy Notice: Computers used by public patrons keep a history of searches until the computers are re-booted. Please be aware that these are public computers – be wary of disclosing account numbers and other sensitive information.

Colorado College is a private institution and our primary mission is to serve the educational needs of our students. We reserve the right to permanently ban any public patron from the library and to refuse access to computers. Public patrons who are discovered using library equipment to visit adult Web sites will be reported to Campus Safety and will be banned from the library. Disruptive individuals or groups will be asked to leave. Other rule infractions may result in being asked to leave.

This policy includes, but is not limited to, Pikes Peak Library District patrons, Community Borrowers, and visitors who are not affiliated with Colorado College.
