Library Card

You must present your Gold Card for any circulation or reserve transaction.

Loan Periods

CC Students

  • Books and scores – 30 days
  • Sound recordings (CDs and LPs) – 5 days
  • Sound recordings (cassettes, reel-to-reel) – DO NOT CIRCULATE
  • Video recordings (limit 2) – 1 day
  • Reserves – 4 HOURS (All reserve items must remain in the library.)


Renewals are permitted for most items that do not have a hold placed on them. However, NO renewals are allowed for CDs or Videos.

Items may be renewed as follows:

  • In person at the Circulation Desk
  • By phone (719) 389-6560
  • By using the “View My Record” option from the Tutt Library homepage or “My Tiger Record” from the TIGER Catalog homepage.
  • By emailing Seay Library

Returning Materials

Borrowers are responsible for any deterioration in an item's condition while in their use (in or out of the library); additionally. the borrower is responsible for the safe and timely return of all materials.

Designated return areas:

  • The Circulation Desk
  • The book return bin located outside the library door; use for after-hours return only.
  • Tutt Library

Interlibrary loan materials should be returned to Tutt Library.

Overdues and Fines

Overdue Books/Scores

Students will not be charged for overdue books and scores. However, “NO FINES does not mean “NO CONSEQUENCES!” If any item becomes 3 weeks overdue, your library account will be blocked until the item is returned.  Please help the library accomplish its primary goal--providing materials to all members of the CC community--by returning materials in a timely manner. 

Overdue CDs and Videos

$2.00 per day for each overdue CD/Video with a maximum fine of $10.00. No grace period. Account will be suspended for CD checkout privileges if any fines are owed for overdue CDs or Videos.

Reserve Items

$5.00 per hour for each overdue reserve item and immediate block of all circulation privileges.

Borrowers are responsible for the timely return of all materials, whether or not  any reminder or overdue notices are received from the library.

Overdue Notices

First Overdue Notice is sent one week after item is due.

Second Overdue Notice is sent two weeks after item is due informing you that your account will be blocked if your library item becomes 3 weeks overdue.

Third Overdue Notice is sent three weeks after the due date. Your library account is blocked after books become 3 weeks overdue. This is the final overdue notice before you are fined and billed.

Billing Notice is sent four weeks after due date. See Replacement Policy for Lost or Damaged Material for replacement costs.

Borrowers are responsible for the timely return of all materials, whether or not  any reminder or overdue notices are received from the library.

Holds and Recalls

Use a Hold if you would like to be next-in-line to receive an item that is currently checked out. To place an item on hold click on the "Request" button found at the top of the screen of the item record in the TIGER Catalog. You will be notified by email when the item is ready to be picked up at the Seay Circulation Desk.

Use a Recall if you need to request a checked-out item for urgent use. Material is subject to recall if the current borrower has had it for more than two weeks. To place a recall, call the Circulation Desk (389-6560) or come in and make the request in person. You will be notified by phone or email when the recalled item has been returned.  Recalled material must be picked up within ten days of the date of the notice of availability. If it is not picked up within this time, it will be returned to the shelves or given to the next person on the waiting list.

If an item you have checked out is recalled, it must be returned immediately. Fines will accrue at $5.00 per day.

Non-Circulating Materials

The following types of materials do not usually circulate. Please ask a librarian about limited special permission for the circulation of particular materials.

  • Reference materials
  • Microforms
  • Any material marked “non-circulating” (e.g. “Library Use Only” or “Not to Leave the Library”)
  • Periodicals
  • Some sound recordings (Cassettes, LPs, Reel-to-Reels)

Confidentiality of Records

Library circulation records and other records identifying the names of library patrons are confidential in nature. Such records will not be made available except pursuant to legal process, order or subpoena.
