Trustees to Welcome New Members

Sidney Pollack, an award winning film maker, and Nancy Woodrow '68, a former marketing executive who headed her own company, have joined the Board of Trustees. They will take the oath of office at the March board meeting.

Pollack's 17 films have received 46 Academy Award nominations, including four for Best Picture. His film "Out of Africa" won seven Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director for Pollack.

He won the New York Film Critics' Award for his 1982 film, "Tootsie." He's also won the Golden Globe for Best Director twice, the National Society of Film Critics' award and prizes at the Brussels, Belgrade, San Sebastian, Moscow and Taormina film festivals.

Pollack's daughter, Rachel, graduated from CC in 1990.

Woodrow, now a stay-at-home mom to sons Casey and Charlie, ran her own company for 10 years, Woodrow and Free Sales, a freelance manufacturers' representative for housewares and lawn and garden products. Prior to this, she was vice president of sales for Thermo-Serv, a housewares manufacturer; the national field sales manager for Toro Company's outdoor appliance division; and customer service manager for Village Bath Products.

A longtime skier who was on the Women's Ski Team while she studied political science at CC, Woodrow served on the board of The Courage Center's handicap skiing program in Minneapolis in the 1980s.

Active with the CC metro group in Minneapolis-St. Paul, she also served on the National Alumni Council and was instrumental in its Traveling College Task Force. She currently serves on the CC Campaign Planning Committee.
