’43 Roland Dickison is co-editor of Midnight Serenade, a volume of short stories and essays by Bert Stiles ’42. Stiles was killed in 1944 while serving in the Army AirCorps. Mr. Stiles’ manuscripts were in the care of Rosemary Harley Prindle, who saved them for more than 50 years.

’52 Tom Ross has written two works, Love, Sex and War, an existential anti-war novel, and Spiders on My Heart, a short piece that ran in Sheridan’s Literary Journal in the November 1998 issue.

 

’54 Elizabeth Russell Johnson lives in Madison, Wisc., and has a five-year-old grandson. * Patricia Hand Magee, a retired art teacher, has established an art studio, Seascapes, Etc., in Ft. ’59 As a Joseph J. Malone fellow and at the invitation of the Saudi Chamber of Commerce, Daniel Crecelius went on a two-week familiarization tour of Saudi Arabia in March 1998. In September, he became chair of the history department at California State University-Los Angeles.

 

’60 John and Marianne Mitchell ’61 Gibson live in Las Vegas. John is CEO, president and chairman of American Pacific, a specialty chemical business. Marianne left teaching in 1992 to travel around the world with John. * Edward Schulte is a radiologist with North County Imaging Center in Vista, Calif.

 

’62 Rusty Bastedo, the state curator for the New Hampshire Division of Historical Resources, has embarked on a unique history of The Granite State, presenting it in decade-long segments and sharing the information via the state of New Hampshire Web pages. * Janet Cowan is in the graduate program in interdisciplinary studies/mathematics education at California State University-Chico. ’67 William Laughlin was elected president of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation for the 1998-99 term. He has been a trustee of the foundation since 1984. He lives in Houston, where he is vice president of Coastal States Management Corporation and director of natural resources law for The Coastal Corporation. * Tom Wolf was a visiting associate professor in the economics department during Block 3. ’68 Bruce McCaw lives in Bellevue, Wash., with his wife, Jolene, and their daughter, Skye. President of Pistol Creek Financial Company, he is also president of PacWest Racing Group, a competitor in the Championship Auto Racing Teams and the Indy Lights racing series.

 

’69 Susan Modlin Fernalld received a crime victim advocacy award from the Boulder district attorney’s office in 1998. * The Port of Seattle has named Tom Tierney as its chief administrative officer/chief financial officer. He is in charge of all the corporate services that support the port’s marine and aviation divisions.

’71 Tina Hittenberger is admissions director for Sonoma Country Day School in Santa Rosa, Calif. She is divorced and living in Petaluma. * Steve Jesson is vice president of marketing development for SkyLynx Communications, Inc., in Alamo, Calif. He recently led a successful challenge to Arizona’s exclusion of evolution from the state science standards.
