’31 Harold Westesen and his wife, Dorothy, live on a ranch outside of Olathe, Colo. During the weekly lunch meeting of the Montrose Rotary Club, the mayor proclaimed July 25, 2000, as Harold Westesen Day. Harold farmed for 40 years before retiring in the 1970s. His many contributions to the community include serving on the Olathe Fire Board, the Montrose Memorial Hospital Board and the Tri-County Water Conservancy District Board.

’38 Robert Lind is sad to report the death of his wife, Vesta, in January. 

’39 Rossa Mosher Heath retired from teaching in 1990 and is living in Ft. Collins, Colo., where she entertains with the Senior Harmonettes. 

’41 60th Reunion -- Oct. 12-14, 2001!  

’42 The final book of the trilogy by Bert Stiles, One Year, One Lifetime: A Memoir of College Life in the 1940s, was co-edited by Roland Dickison ’43 and Robert Cooper, and is available for sale at the CC bookstore.  

’43 Marvin “Bernie” Payne lives in Escondido, Calif., with his wife, Dorothy. They have eight children and 12 grandchildren and would love to hear from anyone in the Class of ’42 or ’43.

’46 55th Reunion -- Oct. 12-14, 2001!  

’48 Annette Wilcox-Waite lives in Lakewood, Colo., where she is a sculptor and writer: “One book of poetry so far!” 

’51 50th Reunion -- Oct. 12-14, 2001!   Jeanne Lamar Deis has retired for the second time and moved to Bloomington, Neb., “a village of 129 people, 50,000 black angus cattle and lots of corn.” * Joe Holmes is retired and living in Kirkland, Wash., with his wife, Diane.    

’52 John Orsborn works part-time as a consultant in fisheries engineering and hydrology. He had hip replacement in ’97, a brain probe for Parkinson’s Disease in ’99, and shoulder repair in 2000. He feels 10 years younger and is looking forward to 2002!

’56 Norma Tackitt Morath has retired to “paradise” (Kailua, Hawaii) to live near her son and his family.    

’57 Lem Scarbrough and his wife, Frances, traveled by train from their home in Austin, Texas, to Chicago, Portland, Ore., and Los Angeles before returning to Austin. While in Portland, they saw classmates, Doug Swail ’56 and Bill Riley

’58 Caroline Ackerman Wilkinson lives in Sun Lakes, Ariz., where she loves being retired. She and husband, Mike, travel much of the time and enjoy seeing their 11 grandchildren, who live in Phoenix, St. Louis, Mo., Columbia, Mo., and Bloomington, Ill. She also enjoys getting together with Barbara Wusich Young whenever possible. Barbara and husband, Charles, live in Paradise Valley, where she is managing director of Wusich-Young Family L.L.C.

’60 Madonna Curran Reubens was widowed on July 1, 1999. She lives in North Bend, Ore. 

’63 Monique Hestin Amerman became president of Mountain View College in Lancaster, Texas, in 1994.  She presently serves as president of COMBASE, a national organization for community colleges. She is also serving a three-year term as a board member of the American Association of Community Colleges. “All is well in Texas,” she reports. * Bobbie Tolley Anton has become a financial consultant in the private client group with Merrill Lynch, beating out 70 younger contenders.  She also “overcame a personal challenge with breast cancer.  I'm 100 percent now.”  She enjoys golf, visiting her daughter in Maui, and being a grandmother. * Juliana Bohlke Berry has a new job as a service coordinator with the State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Developmental Disabilities Division.  And quilting is still her favorite leisure activity. * Jay Bluck is chairman of the Bermuda government millennium committee, spending government money on “works of permanent good for the community, including commissioning music, dance, and drama and building a plaza and fountain within the city.” Jay has also been elected common councillor for the City of Hamilton. * Newell and Myrle Miller ’65 Bossart work for their two sons in China. Newell is president of Bossart, L.L.C., in Bellevue, Wash. * Sue Olds Carr just retired from the public school system in Casper, Wyo. “After 30 plus years it’s time to do something else.  I'm not sure what that will be, but I'm not ready for the rocking chair yet.” * Ann McFadden Tucker is a paralegal in the Maricopa County (Ariz.) District Attorney’s Office.  Her daughter, Morgan, graduated from high school. * Nancy Dehlin Whiting, who works for the Crime Prevention Center in Houston, spent a week in London visiting her daughter and her family, playing tourist and seeing all the sights.

’64 Marilee Randol Berzins is broker/owner of Access Associates in Denver. * William Stone is vice president of sales/marketing at Thompson & Thompson in San Lorenzo, Calif. 

’66 Mac Callaway lives in Bronshoj, Denmark, and works in Roskilde. His son, Ewen, is a senior at CC.

’68 Diane Brown Benninghoff, director of alumni and parent programs at CC, is a contributor to a new “Handbook of Institutional Advancement” in which she writes about, what else, alumni. The book is a publication of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. * Pete Davis and Rennie Robbins were married May 6. They live in Kansas City, Mo. * Jack Tomhave MAT will retire in December after 38 years in education as a math teacher and middle school administrator in Ellsworth, Wis. 

’69 Richard Brinkerhoff  and Jan Trip were married Sept. 21, 1999, in Haarlem, Netherlands. * Jane Lubchenco was nominated by President Clinton to serve as a member of the National Science Board. 

’70 Patricia Adams and David Ballast were married July 10, 1999. * Fletcher Anderson is president of Mountain Aviation Services and Telluride Soaring in Telluride, Colo., where he lives with his wife, Shelby, and their daughter, Sophie. * Tom Wilcox is the new chief executive officer for the Baltimore Community Foundation. 

’71 Lon Brouse and Karen Pope were married March 24, 1999. Lon is director of science and technology at Challenge Charter School in Glendale, Ariz. * Jeff Morgenthaler reports that he has “slipped the surly bonds of lawyering and am nurturing an amazing Internet startup… becoming a billionaire seems somewhat elusive -- darn.” * Karen Shupe is a manager with the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City, Okla., where she lives with her husband, Norman Bowles.  

’72 Sue Brewington bought a house (her first) in Albuquerque, where she continues to work as a medical liaison for MCC Behavioral Care. Since buying her own place, Sue has discovered the joys of gardening -- something she had little interest in before. Her new address is 7548 Northridge Ave., N.E., Albuquerque, N.M. 81709. * Jim Casebolt, Colorado Court of Appeals judge, was married in April 1999 to Nancy Williams in Florence, Italy. Jim has two married sons and one grandson. In addition to being a judge, Jim is a trustee for the Public Employees Retirement Association of Colorado. * After 15 years of teaching elementary school in District 20 in Colorado Springs, Les Goss has retired from teaching to devote full time to his business, ZebraMoon Web Design <www.zmoon.com>, specializing in small business and not-for-profit accounts. * John Hawk is the social studies department chair at Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs. In his spare time, John is a volunteer for the National Park Service at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, where he maintains 13 miles of trail. He and his wife, Pamela, have two daughters. * Bruce Neumann, a physician, works winters at the Snowmass ski clinic, summers in the Aspen Valley Hospital emergency room in Aspen, Colo. * Ray Petros added a fourth (!) Studebaker to his collection. An avid collector and member of the Studebaker Drivers Club, Ray manages to drive all four cars at least twice a week. When not driving his cars, Ray practices law in Denver, specializing in water rights and water law. * Melissa Walker, an alumni relations officer at CC, is the co-editor of CyberTiger, CC’s monthly e-newsletter.

’73 Jean Krusi, a teacher at Ames Middle School in Ames, Iowa, was among 200 teachers selected for the 1999 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. * Stephen Pelz is vice president of acquisitions and development for Neumann Homes, Inc., in Warrenville, Ill. * Susan Abraham Spehar would like to let everyone know of the death of her beloved husband, George, on March 1 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Susan and George bought a large ranch in Powderhorn, Colo., where they planned to retire with their children. He was a wonderful father to Jacob, 22, and Julianne ’03, 18.  

’74 Chris Juniper (formerly Chris Junkin) is a senior associate at Rocky Mountain Institute in Snowmass, Colo., helping businesses and communities use the natural capitalism business model to enhance prosperity while preserving the environment. He thanks CC Professor Walt Hecox ’64 “for showing me this lifework!” * Leslie Priest lives in Wheatridge, Colo., with her husband, Joe. She is a training consultant with Time Warner Telecom. * Betty Wytias lives in Denver, where she is an assistant attorney general specializing in domestic violence and child protection issues. She received the Carolyn Hamil-Henderson Memorial Award from SafeHouse Denver in June. She was nominated for the award by Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar ’77, who also introduced Betty at the awards ceremony. 

’75 Sylvia Blaustein is a nurse/midwife with Midwives of Manhattan in New York. She and her husband, Michael Kasper, have three daughters, Lisa, Anita and Hannah. * Anthony Garrett is director of the Washington office at the Internews Network in Washington, D.C. Anthony and his wife, Carol, celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in July. * Scottie Brown Jones is director of retail services at the Phoenix Zoo. * After eight years of training community health workers and physicians in Oakland, Calif., Amy Osterholm and her family have moved to Bucharest, Romania, for two years. Amy hopes to write fiction, a long-held dream. 

’76 25th Reunion -- Oct.  12-14, 2001!    Gail Anderson is vice president of Museum Management Consultants in San Francisco. She lives in Novato, Calif., with her husband, John Chiodo, and their daughter, Maya. * Deborah Bennett works at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama as a registered nurse and an international board-certified lactation consultant. She enjoys her two sons, 9 and 11, and lives only a few hours away from Beth Conklin, her CC roommate, who now teaches at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. * Kathleen Leech Bentson is a research scientist with Seattle Institute for Biomedical & Clinical Research. * Steve Collett lives in Los Angeles, where he owns and operates Collett & Company, Inc. * Laurie Weinstein dedicated her most recent anthology to Dr. Marianne Stoller, retired professor of anthropology at CC. The book is entitled Native People of the Southwest: Negotiating Land, Water & Ethnicities (2001) and features an article by Marianne on the Baca grant. * Mary White teaches at St. Ignatius Elementary School in St. Ignatius, Mont. 

’77 David Cowan dropped by the Alumni Office in June while in the area on business. He is the director of programming and production for WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tenn. He’d love to hear from any friends planning a visit to the Smoky Mountain area. * Jaye Preston is a consultant with Jaye Preston Business Services in Sausalito, Calif. 

’78 Frank Langben has gone back to school to obtain his elementary teaching credential from the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, Calif. 

’79 Julie Goodwin lives in Lake Oswego, Ore., with her husband, Tom Bell, and their children, Matthew and Emily. Julie continues to work in the field of diabetes. * Roger Hart is an N.E.H. fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, N.J. * Richard Hersack is a surgeon and general chair at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. 

’81 20th Reunion -- Oct. 12-14, 2001!    Penny Henritzy Johnsrud lives in Bingen, Wash., where she is a family nurse practitioner. * Jill Paukert and Bill Hollingsworth were married Jan. 19 in Maui, Hawaii. * Suzanne Shapero lives in Kenwood, N.Y., and practices dentistry in Oneida. * Jack and Jennifer Tobias ’80 Turner have moved to a farm outside of Petoskey, Mich., where Jack is vice president and general counsel for the Bay Harbor Company. Their four children, Will, Lily, Gus and Clem are enjoying exploring their 30 acres, and Jennifer has opened a home decor shop, Glorie Be, in the Bay Harbor Marina District. 

’82 Maura Huber Edison and husband, Richard ’80, are living in Boulder, Colo., but are building a straw-bale house outside of Pueblo, Colo. They hope to complete the home and move in by late summer 2000. * Carol Plummer MAT is retired and living in Colorado Springs. * Mary Lynch Witmer and family are back in Seattle after several years in Washington, D.C., and a brief (two year) stop in Iowa.  

’83 Craig Allely is a partner in the litigation department at the firm of Holland & Hart L.L.P. in Denver. *  Mary Cribari-White lives in Westport, Conn. Her daughter, Madison, is almost two. * Brooke Ewen Del Mastro is a financial representative with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in Las Vegas. * John Hennessy is executive director of the Kansas City Oncology & Hematology Group in Westwood, Kan. * Scott Samuels and Dara Newman ’84 live in Missoula, Mont., with their daughters, Tessa and Leah. Scott is an associate professor in the Division of Biological Sciences at the University of Montana. They often see fellow CCer Robin Abeshaus ’80, and they visited James Atkinson ’84 and Rex Palmer ’84 over the summer. In addition, almost every year Scott’s department has hosted a CC graduate to present a research seminar. Alumni who have participated include Brenda Bass ’77, Carolyn Ness Decker ’82, Dicki Hertel ’86 and Dan Pierce ’86. * Stan Stockdale is an upper-school director for Graland Country Day School in Denver. 

’84 Jody Boyman lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, Berkeley Breathed, and their daughter, Sophie. Jody is pursuing her master’s degree in clinical psychology while continuing with her photography business. * Stuart Kanchuger and Arleen Sierra were married March 18. They live in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Stuart is a special projects manager with Frito Lay’s Latin American Region. 

’85 Eric and Tammy Gentry Bergeson live in Niwot, Colo., with their children, Kelsey, Haley and Lucas. * Gary Desjardins and Amy Reichenberger were married Feb. 12. Alumnus Rashe Lyford was in attendance. * Cynthia Dott and Gary Gianniny ’83 live in Durango, Colo., with their children, Cori and Gordon. They both work at Ft. Lewis College — Cynthia is an adjunct professor in the biology department and Gary is a professor in the geology department. * Jennifer Simus Fisher is vice president of marketing and product management at Aquila Energy in Kansas City, Mo. * Phillip Gentry is director of college counseling at St. Mary’s Academy in Englewood, Colo. * Miyuki Inaba is an assistant professor in the department of social welfare at Fukuoka Prefectural University in Fukuoka, Japan. * Elizabeth Janes is a paralegal with the U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental Crimes, in Washington, D.C. * Irv Katz is the producer of the two-hour weekday morning newscast at WUSA-TV, a CBS television affiliate in Washington, D.C. * Greg Leddy and Jamelah MacLean were married May 1, 1999. They live in Seattle. * Katy Schorr-Winchell is a physician at Internal Medicine of Aurora in Aurora, Colo. She lives in Denver with her husband, Atsu, and their children, Savannah and Calla Ann. * Anne Smith is general manager of the New School of Cooking in Culver City, Calif. 

’86 Cynthia Weber Chesser lives in Dexter, Mo., with her husband, Scott, and their sons, Austin and Matthew. * Suzanne Finney lives in Greenville, N.C., where she is pursuing a Ph.D. in underwater archaeology and submerged cultural resource management. * Zan Moltz is an attorney with Cutler-Smith P.C. in McKinney, Texas. 

’87 Ed Casias and Alison Marrs were married June 26, 1999, in Denver. That means you, Gautam.” * Kathy Hill is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. * Sara Mook lives in Ft. Collins, Colo., with her husband, Ernie Marx, and their children, Kate and Charlie. She has been a registered nurse since 1993. * Michelle Wemple and partner, Max Zavorotny, live in Boulder, Colo., with their children, Anton and Dariya.       

’88 Todd Breyfogle is a fellow at the Liberty Fund, an educational foundation and publishing house in Indianapolis. * Nancy Eberle bought a home in Oklahoma City, where she is a sales services manager. * Michele Book Ediger lives in Topeka, Kan., where she is a full-time mother. * Meredith Eppel is executive director of the National Arts & Learning Foundation at Walnut Hill, Mass., in the Boston area. She also exhibits her artwork and was included in the summer group show entitled “Drawing: Between the Lines” at the Creiger-Dane Gallery in Boston. * Elizabeth Brownsberger Mader is owner and principal artisan at Madermarks in St. Augustine, Fla., where she creates specialized entryway treatments. * Munir Meghjee and his wife, Sophie, have moved to Minneapolis. * Andrew Webster lives in Breckenridge, Colo., with his wife, Hillary, and their children, Madison, Forrest and Colby. * Tanya Jerome Zigmont completed her Army service contract in April and is now a clinical research coordinator in the hematology and oncology department of New England Medical Center in Somerville, Mass. 

’89 Linda Baynham is an associate with Entergy Services, Inc., in New Orleans. * Kenneth Becker was appointed vice president of advocacy and government relations for Catholic Health East in Silver Spring, Md. * Ted Christianson is a vice president at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray in Minneapolis. * Jean Halley teaches women’s studies courses at the American Studies Program at Old Westbury at the State University of New York. * Kristin Smith Landis is project manager at the Omaha Cultural and Academic Cooperative in Omaha, Neb. * Andrew Masterman is president of Walbro Engine Management Corporation in Tucson, Ariz. * Karen Caplan Perry and husband, Chris, bought a house in Groveland, Mass. They are thrilled to have a fenced-in yard where their four-year-old quadruplets can play. Aside from parenting, Karen works as a part-time contract recruiter as well as performs part time in an improvisational musical troupe call “Musical! The Musical!” at the Works Theater in Davis Square, Somerville. * Andrea Trower Scharff is owner of Andrea Scharff Landscape Design in New York. * Cyrus Walker is a partner at Nemco Brokerage in New York. He lives in Jersey City, N.J., with his wife, Joanne, and their daughters, Maia and Sara. 

’90 Justin Ayres and Corinne Nolin were married in June 1999 in France. Justin is pursuing a Ph.D. in depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Alhambra, Calif. He is working toward his life’s goal of becoming a Jungian analyst. * Mike Broh is a production manager with the American Players Theater in Spring Green, Wis. * Kathy Carlow is an attorney with Constantine & Associates P.C. in Albuquerque. * Kenny and  April Aragon ’95 Crochet live in Colorado Springs with their son, Joseph. Kenny does Internet development. * Beth Hanley and Derrick Coffman were married Nov. 6, 1999. They live in Dallas, where Beth teaches math at Highland Park High School. * Keller Kimbrough is an assistant professor of Japanese literature at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. * Kinda Asher Lenberg has her own consulting business, Creative Liaisons, where she is engaged in writing, editing and layout for various clients, allowing her the opportunity to stay at home and be a full-time mom to son, Gunnar. * Tasha Cogan Nguyen has a lead role in a movie of the week called “The Bone Yard,” a true crime story to air in early fall 2000 on the Discovery Channel. * Andrea Peterson is a marketing manager in the planning division at Tactical Marketing Ventures L.L.C. in Westminster, Colo. * Nathan Porter is assistant manager at Headwaters Outdoor Equipment in Salida, Colo. * Shuree Hoffman Ramirez is a pharmacist with Ron’s Pharmacy, Inc., in Ft. Worth, Texas. * Ben Shearn is president and owner of CG Boards in Santa Monica, Calif., and still a contributing photographer with F.P.G. International. * Brad Stratton was promoted to vice president of sales for Parametric Technology in Bloomington, Minn. He lives in Eden Prairie with wife, Elizabeth, and their daughters, Abigail and Cecilia. * M.J. Walker has produced a CD.   

’91  10th Reunion -- Oct. 12-14, 2001!    Kamisha Begay lives in Craig, Colo., where she has been teaching and coaching cheerleading since graduation. She is also a firefighter, an EMT with the hospital’s ambulance, an EMT for the SWAT team, and a wildland firefighter in the summer. She’d love to hear from old friends. * Josh Cramer lives in Chicago, where he is a senior account manager in the IBM Mindspan Solutions Group. * Lara Frohlich and Jon Andersen ’90 were married June 19, 1999. They live in Chicago, where Lara is an advertising director with the New York Review of Books and Jon is a manager with Andersen Consulting. * Robert Hagan is an attorney in Douglasville, Ga. * Michelle McKinnon and Rene Veloso were married May 27, in Evanston, Ill. Alumni in attendance were Mike Ukropina ’89 and Kimber Felton, Pete Fisher ’90, Matt Hoeven ’90, Tara Devlin Blackburn, Sally Clark, Lisa Remey Hastings, Beth Davies Jones and Camilla Nestor. * Chris Paty and Samantha Gatti were married Sept. 23, 1999. Chris owns Phat Wraps in Chattanooga, Tenn. * Calvin Rogers and Amy Smith were married Sept. 25, 1999. Calvin is an applications engineer with Boatscape.com, Inc. in Boston, Mass. He is also president and co-founder of Citrusplanet.com, Inc. * Amy Stix is pursuing a master’s degree in environmental policy at the University of Montana in Missoula. * Danielle Walters teaches special education at University of Washington’s Experimental Education Unit in Seattle, Wash., where she lives with her husband, Andrew Keenan.   

’92 Randy and Melea Madsen Benzel live in Littleton, Colo., with their children, Kendal, Cameron and Courtney. Randy is a senior consultant at Braun Consulting in Denver, and Melea operates a home daycare and preschool. * Heather Spangenberg Brooke is a fitness coordinator with the Central Park Conservancy in New York. * John Carranza and Kelly Barron were married Sept. 5, 1999. Alumni in attendance were Dave Roark ’90, Brian ’90 and Andrea Sunset ’90 Weslar, Mark Doherty ’91, Kyle Samuel, Andrew Subudhi, Bill and Tracy Coughlin Thomas, Mike Van Zandt and Mark Mullally ’93. * Sara Grote Cerrell is a senior account executive with DDB Worldwide Communications in Seattle, Wash. * Tim Coury and Karla Villegas were married Oct. 16, 1999, in Washington, D.C. Tim is a physician at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. He is also co-founder of Adventure Medicine Consultants, a company providing support for adventure and travel medicine. * Ellen Starr Farrar is a marketing manager with Greater North Michigan Avenue Association in Chicago. * Aurelia Mason Flores is an attorney with Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps L.L.P. in San Diego, Calif. She was featured in the March 11 edition of El Informador. * Kristina Stark Gillespie is an English teacher and newspaper advisor at Ponderosa High School in Parker, Colo., where she lives with her husband, Gary, and their sons, Kody and Kale. * Tim and Cassi Cooper Hammerstein live in Denver with their daughter, Zoe. Tim teaches middle school math at Montclair Academy and Cassi continues to develop her graphic design business. * Georgi Pantely Laufenberg is using her degree from CC in her new position as international order management analyst in the footwear global forecasting department at Nike. * In February, Susan Patrick was joined by fellow classmates, Patty Asteinza, Kristin Fischer, Kelly Hillmer, Georgi Pantely Laufenberg, Laura Huey Mellberg and Catherine Veninga in Keystone, Colo., for a mini-reunion.
