Miriam Malsbary Frederickson ’26, Milwaukee, Wis., March 22, 2001.

Elizabeth Wilson Dalton ’27, Carthage, Mo., Oct. 8, 2000.

Mary Beeson Mobley ’29, Colorado Springs, Oct. 1. Mary was a retired school teacher. She also served as a class agent at Colorado College from 1974-1986.

W. Lois Hall Roberts ’31, Chevy Chase, Md., Nov. 3. Lois was the former owner and operator of the Center Book Shop in Bethesda. Survivors include her husband, Chalmers Roberts.

Mariana Sackett Poorman ’33, Holland, Pa., Aug. 16. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Sackett Sweetland ’43.

Robert Lind ’38, Lansing, Mich., Nov. 1. Bob worked for the Dow Chemical Company from 1940 until his retirement in 1978.

Harold “Andy” Anderson ’40, Peoria, Ariz., Nov. 13. Andy was a district manager for Union Oil Co. Survivors include his wife, Doris.

Charlotte Cook Bensberg ’41, Colorado Springs, Aug. 28.

John Atwood ’42, Watertown, Conn., Nov. 16. John was the first coach and captain of the Colorado College hockey team. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carol Healey Atwood ’43, his daughter, Catherine Atwood Points ’76, his brother-in-law, Richard A. Dickison ’38, his niece, Judith Dickison ’64, and his nephew, Richard R. Dickison ’71.

Janice Bushman Blakely ’42, Colorado Springs, June 22. Janice retired as executive director of the El Paso County Health Association. Survivors include her son, Frank Warren Blakely ’73, and her sister-in-law, Myrna Blakely McMurtry ’51. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Blakely ’42.

William “Duke” Nicoll ’44, Colorado Springs, Sept. 25. Survivors include his wife, Jane.

E. Abbott Johnson ’46, Calistoga, Calif., Feb. 28, 2001. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy.

Ernest “Pete” Beroni ’47, Grand Junction, Colo., Sept. 17. He spent 30 years in government service before retiring as a chief regional geologist in Grand Junction.

Nancy Wolfer Voss ’52, Ft. Collins, Colo., May 3. Nancy was an elementary teacher in Denver, Colorado Springs and St. Louis. Survivors include her husband, Richard Voss ’51, two sons, and four grandchildren.

Ronald Schisler ’56, Los Angeles, Sept. 29. Ron was a retired infrared and sensors engineer at TRW, Inc. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Charlson Schisler ’54.

Dorothy Rosentreter Carter ’57, Colorado Springs, Sept. 7.

William Gartner ’61, Colorado Springs, Nov. 25. He retired from civil service after 36 years at the Air Force Academy. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn.

Karen Kossuth ’63, Yorba Linda, Calif., Nov. 7. Karen was a professor at Pomona College, where she was one of the architects of the new curriculum in linguistics and cognitive science.

Richard Croll ’65, Larkspur, Calif., Sept. 16. Dick was an avid member of the Audubon Society.

Peter Davis ’67, San Diego, Calif., June 11. Peter lived and worked in Manassas, Va., and San Diego.

Maurice Habenicht ’76, Denver, April 12, 2001. Mauri had taught math and computer science at Euclid Middle School in Littleton since 1978. Survivors include his wife, Jan, and daughter, Lauren.

Patricia Dale Hartigan ’79, Denver, Nov. 12. Dale was a homemaker. Her interests included fiddle music and literature. Survivors include her husband, Michael Craine ’78, her sons, Brendan and Dylan, and her sister,

Christine Hartigan Moses ’82.

Guenter Zietlow ’92, Colorado Springs, Sept. 8. Guenter retired from the Army after 25 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Renate.


Friends

Leon “Red” Eastlack (Parent), Colorado Springs, Nov. 17. Red’s 32-year tenure at Colorado College included positions as head basketball coach, assistant football coach, tennis and golf coach, and assistant athletic director. Red was inducted into Colorado College’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. Survivors include his wife, Jane, and his son, John Eastlack ’68.

William Jovanovich, Ft. Worth, Texas, Dec. 4. William was the retired chairman of Harcourt Brace Jovanovich & Co. He received an honorary degree from Colorado College in 1966. The William Jovanovich Lecture in Public Affairs was named in his honor.

Lorene Morris, Colorado Springs, Aug. 9. Lorene was a retired registered nurse at Colorado College.

Wyman Mueller, Colorado Springs, Oct. 15. Wyman served as a charter trustee at Colorado College from 1962-1979.

Vera G. Scott, Colorado Springs, Nov. 23. She was a teacher and social worker for School District 11. In 1969, Vera became the first black to hold the position of principal in Colorado Springs. She retired in 1977. In 1998, an elementary school was named in her honor. Vera helped form the Pikes Peak Urban League and volunteered for numerous organizations.
