Ruth Brown Allen ’20, Rochester, Minn., Aug. 10. Ruth was a former school and piano teacher.
 
 

Margaret Foote Tout ’29, Sequim, Wash., Nov. 1. Margaret taught school for 30 years. Survivors include her niece, Betsy Foote Peck ’62, and her nephew, Thomas A. Foote ’68.
 
 

Thomas "Russ" Henritze ’32, Castle Rock, Colo., Aug. 7. Russ was a buyer and manager for the Safeway Credit Union for 40 years until retirement. Survivors include his wife, Carol.

Helen "Ruth" Bradley Carson ’36, Laguna Hills, Calif., May 20. Ruth was a teacher until the birth of her daughter. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Beth Carson Fulton ’66.
 
 

James F. Walsh ’37, Colorado Springs, July 17. Jim was a retired postal inspector.
 
 

Edward W. Leonard ’38, Englewood, Colo., Nov. 5. Ed was a retired company president. Survivors include his wife, Doris Jones Leonard ’39, his sister, Betty Leonard Bayard ’45, and sister-in-law, Heloise Jones Ish ’48.
 
 

Lucy Young Toth ’38, Colorado Springs, Oct. 23. Lucy retired from CC in the early 1980’s. Survivors include her son, Donald Toth ’68.
 
 

James F. Capes ’40, Grand Junction, Colo., Aug. 24. James served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Survivors include his wife, Ruth.
 
 

Karl F. Roehrig ’43, Dallas, May 3. Karl graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1952. He was a general practioner and later an anesthesiologist. Survivors include his wife, Eloise.
 
 

Eleanore Moody Ickes ’45, Ferndale, Wash., June 10. Survivors include her daughter, Alison Ickes Dalton ’74, and her son-in-law, Matthew Dalton’74.
 
 

Janet Fiedler Godecke ’49, Gardnerville, Nev., March 10, 1999. Janet was an elementary school teacher.
 
 

Emma Fay Hartzell ’49, Wichita, Kan., July 4, 1998. Survivors include her daughter, Martha Hartzell Fosdick ’72, her son-in-law, Michael Fosdick ’73, and her granddaughter, Amanda Fosdick ’99.
 
 

Harold D. Stauffer ’49, Durango, Colo., Jan. 24, 1999. Hale received a degree in dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania and practiced dentistry in Colorado Springs for 40 years.
 
 

Donald D. Wilfley ’49, Colorado Springs, Nov. 23. Donald was a retired postal clerk. Survivors include his wife, Melva.
 
 

Robert L. Bailey ’50, Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Dec. 25, 1998. Robert spent nearly 17 years with the Glastic Corporation. He later entered the hotel management field in South Carolina.
 
 

Gertrude "Trudie" Gress Gregory ’52, Colorado Springs, Oct. 8. Trudie was an elementary school teacher, artist and sculptor. She volunteered for CC in the metro (alumni club) program. Survivors include her husband, Douglas Gregory ’50, and her daughter, Dale Gregory Zwiacher ’77.
 
 

Kathryn Chehak Donahue ’53, Colorado Springs, July 15. Survivors include her husband, Richard Donahue ’53.
 
 

Eldon K. Helm ’55, Colorado Springs, Feb. 23, 1999. Eldon began his career with Cheyenne Mountain in 1955 as an elementary school teacher. In addition to teaching, he was a high school football, baseball, and basketball coach. He became principal of Cheyenne Mt. High School in 1964 and retired from the position in 1987. Survivors include his wife, Edith.
 
 

James D. Walston ’56, Fritch, Texas, Dec. 19, 1998. James was a retired dentist. Survivors include his brother, Robert R. Walston '61, and his sister-in-law, Mary Maroney Walston ’64.
 
 

Rita M. McCullough ’57, Colorado Springs, Aug. 24. Rita was an artist.
 
 

Amy Sasaki Furukido ’58, Pearl City, Hawaii, July 26, from pancreatic cancer. She was an adult education school teacher. Survivors include her husband, Henry, and her son, Stephen Furukido ’86.
 
 

John "Jack" Gaines ’58, Napa, Calif., Sept. 11, 1998. Jack passed away after a short battle with cancer.
 
 

Jeri Weatherbee Witt ’58, Temecula, Calif., Sept. 20. Jeri was a graduate of the University of Washington and of Simon Greenleaf Law School of Santa Ana, Calif. Survivors include her husband, John.
 
 

Reuben S. Trinidad ’62, Greeley, Colo., July 12. Reuben began his teaching career in Colorado Springs. In 1982, he became principal of San Jose’s William C. Overfelt High School, a school in such serious trouble that the district considered closing it. In 1984, the U.S. Department of Justice selected this high school as one of four "Outstanding Effective Turn Around High Schools" in the nation. The National School Safety Center chose Reuben as one of only ten "Principals of Leadership" and the City of San Jose presented him with its Supervisors’ Recognition Award in 1986 for his role as a catalyst in making his school a safe and secure place to learn. In 1990, CC’s National Alumni Council awarded him with the Louis T. Benezet Award for his efforts in changing and improving the quality of education. Survivors include his wife, Martha.
 
 

Lawrence "Ed" McCarthy ’63, Camarillo, Calif., Aug. 23. Ed retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and from the U.S. Civil Service in 1993.
 
 

George H. Burmaster ’64, Hertfordshire, England, July 27. George moved to England shortly after his studies in Colorado, and lived there until his death. Survivors include his wife, Caroline.
 
 

Carol Nelson Scott ’65, Rochester, N.Y., Oct. 15, 1998. Carol taught high school and was also a specialist in environmental chemistry while pursuing her doctorate. She later moved to Washington, D.C., during the Reagan Administration, and served on the president’s staff as a consultant to the Policy Committee for Science and Technology. Since 1991, she was director of environmental health and safety for the University of Rochester. Survivors include her brother, Clark Nelson ’73.
 
 

Lynda E. Spickard ’66, Mercer Island, Wash., Aug. 10, after fighting recurring breast cancer for over twenty years. Lynda received her Masters in Anthropology from the University of Colorado in 1971, and for the next twelve years taught at various colleges. In the early 80’s she acted as the assistant director excavating the Huari site above Ayacucho in Peru. In 1983, she became a college administrator. Survivors include her brother, Stephen M. Spickard ’70.
 
 

Roenna Cohen ’67 MAT, Colorado Springs, Oct. 14. Roenna was an English teacher for 32 years and was part of the department of education at CC.
 
 

John R. Welch ’67, Urbandale, Iowa, May 11, 1998. Survivors include his wife, Joyce.
 
 

Randall L. Serna ’74, Littleton, Colo., Dec. 20, 1998. Survivors include his wife, Mireya, and his sister, Sheila Serna Marrujo ’79.
 
 

Nancy Nelson Haire ’76, Leawood, Kan., Aug. 2, 1998. Survivors include her husband, James A. Haire ’76, and her niece, Jaime L. Haire ’98.
 
 

Mary McNeely Napolitano ’78, Danville, Calif., March 17, 1999, of cancer. Survivors include her husband, Len.
