We know many alumni have ties to the college that go back several generations. We invite you to write us and tell us about YOUR CC Family tree.

I have listed my family members in order of their association with the college, starting with Uncle George, who moved to Colorado Springs around the turn of the century. My grandparents, Frank Hoag Sr. and Louise Allebrand, came here when it was discovered that my grandmother had tuberculosis. In those early days there was no cure, so when the doctor suggested a dry climate with lots of sunshine, grandfather picked up all stakes in Pennsylvania and had his little family -- my grandmother, my mother and aunt -- on the train two days later. A bright part of the story is that my grandmother lived to be 92!

o GEORGE ALLEBRAND SR.

George was an ardent lifetime benefactor of Colorado College whom we believe matriculated in 1898 or the first part of the 1900s. For many years the Sigma Chi chapter was the only fraternity on campus that owned its house outright - and George Allebrand was said to be responsible for that.

He served on the board of trustees and was instrumental in helping many students attend CC by giving jobs in his ice factory to those who needed financial help. Allebrand was the brother of Louise Allebrand Hoag, who was the mother of Dorothy Rawlings, Mildred Evans and Frank Hoag Jr.

o FRANK EDWARD EVANS SR.

Frank enrolled in 1913 and was a Phi Beta Kappa and a member of the social fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta. He lettered in baseball four years and lettered in tennis two years. He and John Rawlings and other male members of the class graduated early in 1917 to go to Camp Funston, Kan., for Army officer training. Both he and John Rawlings were lieutenants in the 89th Division, Field Artillery, and served in France in World War I. Evans married Mildred Hoag.

o MILDRED HOAG EVANS

Mildred did not attend Colorado College, but she belonged to a sorority that later became the Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter on the CC campus. She was an honorary member of the Kappa chapter at CC.

o JOHN WILLIAM RAWLINGS

John William Rawlings

John enrolled at CC in 1913 and graduated early in 1917 to attend Army officer training at Camp Funston, Kan. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and lettered two years on the Tiger football team. Rawlings served on the Colorado College Board of Trustees for several years, including a term as president. He married Dorothy Hoag in April 1920.

o DOROTHY HOAG RAWLINGS

Dorothy Hoag Rawlings

Dorothy attended Colorado College for two years, 1915/16 and 1916/17. When her husband to be, John Rawlings, graduated in 1917, she followed him to Camp Funston and enrolled at Kansas State University in nearby Manhattan, Kan. She later graduated from Columbia University in New York City.

o PAUL RAWLINGS

Paul, younger brother of John Rawlings, attended CC around 1918. He was a member of the basketball team.

o FRANK STEPHEN HOAG JR.

Frank Stephen Hoag Jr.

The brother of Dorothy Rawlings and Mildred Evans, Frank Hoag Jr. attended Colorado College for two years around 1928. He was president of his sophomore class and served on the Colorado College Board of Trustees for several years.

o ROBERT HOAG RAWLINGS

Bob, son of John and Dorothy Rawlings, enrolled at CC in 1942. He joined the Navy V-12 unit, was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and lettered two years on the Tiger basketball team. In 1943, he transferred to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps at Colorado University, where he lettered in basketball and received his commission as an ensign in the U.S. Navy. After serving in the South Pacific, he returned to CC and graduated with the Class of 1947. He received the Louis T. Benezet Award in 1996.

o MARY GRAHAM (SANDY) RAWLINGS

After attending Colorado University and Monmouth College, Sandy Graham enrolled at CC in 1945. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and graduated from Colorado College in 1947. She and Bob Rawlings were married in October 1947.

o DR. GEORGE NEELAND ALLEBRAND

George, nephew of George Allebrand Sr., attended CC from 1946 to 1948. He later earned his bachelor of arts, master of arts and doctoral degrees at the University of Southern California.

o DOROTHY RAWLINGS NELSON

Dorothy, daughter of John and Dorothy Rawlings and sister of Bob Rawlings, graduated from Colorado College in 1951. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma who later graduated from McCormack Institute, a Presbyterian seminary, in Chicago.

o JANE LOUISE RAWLINGS

Jane, daughter of Sandy and Bob Rawlings, graduated from Colorado College in 1970. She was a member of Delta Gamma.

o JOHN VICTOR NELSON

John, son of Dorothy Rawlings Nelson, graduated from Colorado College in 1977. He was captain of the swim team his senior year.

o CATHERINE FARR LANGER

Cathy, granddaughter of Frank Evans Sr., graduated from Colorado College in 1976.

o ELIZABETH FARR CHRISTOFFERSON

Libby, sister of Cathy Langer and granddaughter of Frank Evans Sr., graduated from Colorado College in 1978.

o FRANCES EVANS

o KENT NEELAND ALLEBRAND

Kent graduated from Colorado College in 1977 and married Brier Turpin Allebrand '79. He is the son of Dr. George Neeland Allebrand.

o BRIER TURPIN ALLEBRAND

Brier graduated from Colorado College in 1979. She and her husband, Kent, have two children, Ellery Rose Allebrand, 8, and Cooper George Allebrand, 6, both of whom, according to their grandfather, "undoubtedly will go to Colorado College."
