Sarah McIntyre Pryor ’36, Denver, April 30. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for 45 years and logged more than 500 hours at the Rocky Mountain Adoption Exchange. Survivors include her brother, James McIntyre ’37.

Robert Glew ’37, Minneapolis, Nov. 8. He retired from Boy Scouts after 40 years as a professional scouter and more than 70 years as a registered scout. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Musser Glew ’38.

 

Robert Larson ’38, Colorado Springs, July 9. He was a former owner/operator of Holmgren & Larson Construction. Survivors include his wife Mae, and his twin brother, Wilbur Larson ’35.

Marjorie Combs Boyce ’39, Colorado Springs, June 4. She had worked as a language lab assistant at Colorado College. She had also been active in the Fifty Year Club and in planning reunions for the Class of ’39. Survivors include her husband, Wallace, professor emeritus at Colorado College, and daughters, Lyn Boyce Griffiths ’65 and Barbara Boyce-Sheehan ’69.

Jack Oliver ’41, Parachute, Colo., Nov. 25. During World War II, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, the highest award that can be given a non-combatant, for his work with the Allied Intelligence. In 1996, he received a Purple Heart after waiting 53 years. Survivors include his wife, Vera.

Sally Lewis Rodeck ’48, Northglenn, Colo., April 4. She was an anthropologist and historian. She had written numerous articles and was listed in Whoís Who in American Women in the West. Survivors include her husband, Hugo.

 

Irving Andrews ’50, Denver, June 18. A nationally recognized civil rights leader and legendary Denver lawyer who worked on the legal team in the case that ended segregation in the nationís schools. Survivors include his wife, Sara, and granddaughter, Kimberly Harrell ’87.

 

Weldon Tarter ’50, Colorado Springs, May 21. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 52 years. Survivors include his wife, Virginia.

 

F. Jordan Bayless ’51, Colorado Springs, July 19. He was a life-time resident of Colorado Springs with 45 years in the life insurance business. Survivors include his wife, Caryl. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Bayless ’52.

 

G. Harry Stine ’52, Phoenix, Nov. 2. He was a science writer, consultant and founder of the hobby of model rocketry, establishing the National Association of Rocketry. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Kauth Stine ’54.

Louis Lopez ’53, Cherry Creek, Colo., July 10. He was an early member of the Denver Anesthesiology Group and practiced medicine in Denver for more than 35 years. Survivors include his wife, Bettie.

 

Richard Savage ’54, Seattle, Wash., June 11. During his 34-year career with Boeing, he was assigned from 1967 to 1970 to the Apollo program. He was one of the engineers to work with Apollo 13. Survivors include his wife, Ruth.

 

Sue Pfeiffer Daniels ’55, Denver, Colo., April 25, 1995. Survivors include her husband Eugene ’55, daughter, Dana Daniels Murray ’81, and brothers, William Pfeiffer ’49, Richard Pfeiffer ’50 and John Pfeiffer ’51. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Bendure Pfeiffer ’20 and her brother, Edward Pfeiffer ’54.

Ruth T. Carter, Colorado Springs, May 15. She was a retired Colorado College socialwork professor. Survivors include her son, Harvey Carter ’56, and her daughter, Cherry Carter Kinney ’56. Preceding her in death was her husband, Dr. Harvey Carter, former CC professor of history.

 

Harry Hoiles, Colorado Springs, April 11. He was a longtime publisher of the Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph and a staunch guardian of Freedom Communications’ libertarian stance.

 

Tom McGlinn, Portland, May 31. He was an assistant professor of physics from 1990-93, and was currently a professor at the University of Portland. He was in a climbing class near the summit of Mt. Hood when he was caught in an avalanche. His love for the outdoors and the environment fueled his science classes. According to Marlene Moore, dean of the college of arts and sciences at the University of Portland, "he had a natural sense of wonder and curiosity that inspired his students." McGlinn served as a consultant to the MacArthur Foundation program in Peace, Security and International Cooperation in 1988 and 1989 and as an American Association for the Advancement of Science fellow in 1989.

 

Susan Myers, Santa Fe, N.M., April 17. She was head of reference, acting library director and associate librarian at Tutt Library between 1974 and 1988.
