Lynne Vincent Cheney, Colorado College class of 1963, is a novelist, conservative scholar, and former talk-show host. She is the wife of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and served as the second lady of the United States from 2001 to 2009. Cheney will present “James Madison's Rules for Success: What Every Aspiring Politician Should Know.”
Cheney’s lecture is sponsored by The Marianne Lannon Lopat Memorial Lecture Fund. This fund was established by Dr. and Mrs. Stanley P. Lopat (Lucy-Anne Epeneter '48) in memory of their daughter, Marianne '73, who died in 1980. Marianne Lopat worked in Washington D.C as a legislative assistant and went on to serve as political assistant to President Gerald Ford during the 1978 congressional elections. President Ford was the first Lopat lecturer to speak at Colorado College.
