Frantisek Vanicek Organ Recital

The Distinguished Organist Series and the Colorado College Department of Music present Frantisek Vanicek in this concert of European organ music. Vanicek, a native of the Czech Republic, has taken part in many competitions and was the second place winner at the Albert Schweitzer International Organ Competition in Deventer, Holland, in 1991. In the same year, he was awarded the prestigious Premier Prix from the Czech Musical Fund for his representation abroad. Since 1989, he has given hundreds of full-length solo organ concerts all over the world. Both audiences and critics alike are known to appreciate highly his “famous and admirable style of play” (De orgelvriend, 1991) and “fascinating organ playing” (Frankfurter Neue Presse, 1999). He has received numerous accolades, including being named an “eminent artist” (Corriere di Torino, 1994) and a musician who performs “Organmusik in Perfektion” (Passauer Neue Presse, 2009). Since 1995, Vanicek has taught the art of organ at the University of Hradec Králové. Vanicek will present an additional concert at Church of the Ascension (Episcopal) in Pueblo on Thursday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m.
