World Organ Day Celebration Concert

Shove Memorial Chapel
1010 N. Nevada Ave. (map)

On World Organ Day, organists throughout the world present concerts celebrating the 850th anniversary of the great cathedral Notre Dame de Paris. At the invitation of Notre Dame de Paris 2013 Colorado College Organist Frank Shelton, one of a few Americans to have performed three concerts in the cathedral, will present a free concert as part of World Organ Day. The concert will include compositions by famous Notre Dame organists, as well as compositions by American composers Margaret Sandresky, Pamela Decker, and Ofer Ben-Amots, which Shelton has premiered at the cathedral. Shelton will be joined by trumpeter Glen Whitehead to perform Colorado College composer Ofer Ben-Amots's "The Queen City Fanfare." The cathedral has invited organists who have performed at Notre Dame to celebrate this historic anniversary with concerts of music highlighting compositions spanning nearly nine centuries.
