Traditional Indian Music With Rajeev Taranath and Partha Chatterjee

Sperry S. and Ella Graber Packard Hall of Music and Art
5 W. Cache La Poudre St. (map)

Indian classical master musicians Rajeev Taranath and Partha Chatterjee will be performing a series of special duet concert this Fall.  Both of these acclaimed performers are disciples of great legends of Indian music within the style known as the Maihar Gharana or lineage. Partha Chatterjee, an acclaimed sitarist, was a disciple of one of the late Nikhil Banerjee.  Rajeev Taranath, one of the India's top sarod exponents, is the disciple of the late sarod maestro Ali Akbar Khan.  This special pairing of these two master instrumentalists continues a tradition within their esteemed musical lineage of duet concerts performed with virtuosity on the beautiful Indian classical stringed instruments sitar and sarod.  The artists' close respectful musical rapport onstage is sensitive, dynamic, and very exciting to hear. The performance will  include accompaniment on the tabla drums by Abhiman Kaushal.
