The London group Piano Circus performs in a program of contemporary music for six grand pianos. Piano Circus was formed in 1989 to play Steve Reich's seminal minimalist classic "Six Pianos," which will be featured in the concert. In its 22 years of tours, workshops, and commissions, Piano Circus has created a repertoire of more than 100 works; the majority were written especially for the ensemble by the likes of Kevin Volans, Brian Eno, Louis Andriessen, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Terry Riley, and Stephen Scott, whose work combines CC’s Bowed Piano Ensemble with the six London musicians. This collaboration will continue in March 2012 when the BPE goes to London. Hosted by the Colorado College music department and the Colorado College Cultural Attractions Fund.
