Persons with pets on the Colorado College campus must assume complete responsibility for the pet’s behavior.
All financial and administrative policies involving community members across campus are within the scope of this policy. If there is variance between departmental expectations and the common approach described through college policy, the college will look to the campus community to support the spirit and the objectives of college policy.
Authorities delegated and retained/administrative responsibility
The president of the college delegates administration of this policy to the AVP of Institutional Planning & Effectiveness.
Pets are not allowed in campus offices and workspaces during regular business hours. At no time should pets be left unattended in offices. Any pet that becomes a nuisance will be barred from the building and/or the campus.
Employees are responsible for any damage their pets cause. Pets are not allowed to run off-leash. The administration reserves the right to remove unleashed, noisy or menacing pets from campus. The college, with the cooperation of the Colorado Springs Humane Society, will, when necessary, pick up and impound such pets. These restrictions do not apply to service animals assisting student or employee partners.
All pets on the college’s campus must be current on vaccinations and licensed as required by the city of Colorado Springs, El Paso County and/or the state of Colorado. Those pets required to be vaccinated against rabies are required to wear their rabies vaccination tags at all times.
