El Pomar Scholarship
Welcome to the El Pomar Scholarship endorsement page; although nominations are not required, we invite you to nominate your students by January 15th, 2015.
The El Pomar Scholarship was created to encourage talented and passionate students from Colorado to pursue a career in public policy or nonprofit work by covering the annual cost of tuition and fees, standard dorm room, and meal plan at Colorado College, similar to the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship. Each year, two students will be awarded this scholarship in order to experience an exceptional liberal arts and sciences education, along with valuable hands on exposure to El Pomar Foundation’s work in the nonprofit sector.
Throughout four years at CC, El Pomar Scholars work directly with Colorado College and El Pomar Foundation staff to experience professional development and career counseling as their interests evolve. The vast professional network the El Pomar Foundation accesses and the unique learning style CC offers challenges Scholars to think critically, work independently, and become leaders in their own communities and abroad.
Candidates are evaluated on the overall strength of their Colorado College admission application, leadership potential, and engagement in service/public policy activities. All applicants from Colorado, who complete their admission and financial aid applications on time, will be considered for this award.
Finalists will be notified in mid-March and there will be an on-campus interview process in early April. The two recipients of the El Pomar Scholarship will be notified soon after. We are proud to work closely with the El Pomar Foundation to develop scholars and leaders who are committed to excellence and service.
