Peter Blasenheim

Professor

Peter L. Blasenheim has taught Latin American and African history at Colorado College (CC) since 1973.  He was educated at the City College of the City University of New York, the University of Lisbon in Portugal and at Stanford where he wrote his PhD dissertation on the late nineteenth and early twentieth-century history of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. 

He has been Visiting Professor of History at two Brazilian universities.  In 2001, he established a student exchange program between CC and the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) in Brazil, a program that now includes most of the colleges in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest and the University of Brasília as well as CC and UFJF.

He has chaired the History Department at CC and is currently Co-Chair of the Spanish Department.  Professor Blasenheim has published several articles on Brazilian history and has co-edited a book on Richard Morse, a prominent historian of Latin American intellectual history.
