Lynne Fitzhugh

Professor

Lynne Fitzhugh, Ph.D., LDT, CALT-QI

Visiting Lecturer and Director of the Literacy Intervention Specialist Certification Program (LISCP) at Colorado College, Lynne Fitzhugh received her Ph.D. in psychology from Southern Methodist University with a concentration in learning disabilities. Dr. Fitzhugh is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and Qualified Instructor (QI), and a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist in the State of Texas.

As an expert in dyslexia and related learning disabilities, she has been a featured speaker at both local and national conferences. Her publications include various articles on dyslexia, writing disabilities, teacher preparation and education issues. She serves on the board of the Academic Language Therapy Association and is a former board member of the International Dyslexia Association.

A non-profit organization providing direct services to children including those with dyslexia, professional development in reading instruction and dyslexia remediation, and community services related to dyslexia.

  • Earned accreditation from the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) at both Teaching and Therapy Levels, becoming first accredited center in Colorado
  • Established Reading Institute/Literacy Intervention Specialist Program in conjunction with Master of Arts in Teaching Degree at Colorado College. Program recognized by the International Dyslexia Association as one of nine universities in U.S. offering outstanding teacher preparation in the field of reading.
  • In five years, trained over two hundred teachers and directed over 8,500 hours of reading remediation and evaluation services
  • Provided training to staff members from the Colorado Division of Youth corrections
  • Partnered with Colorado College, the Colorado Division of Youth Corrections, Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic – Mountain and Plains Region and Colorado Springs School
