Colorado College/UCCS Education Symposium
March 30, 2012

On Friday, March 30, 2012, Colorado College and University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) hosted its first Education Symposium, made possible by generous funding from Colorado Campus Compact’s Training Ground Grant.  The symposium was the result of feedback from recent graduates of our Master of Arts in Teaching program and the federal requirement to provide training on specialized topics to in-service teachers.  

The symposium was open to current and recent alums of both Colorado College and UCCS, with targeted marketing to AmeriCorps members.  In an effort to collaborate with the community, we also opened the symposium up to current teachers in the surrounding school districts.  School District 11 approved the symposium as a qualifying event for teachers to receive D11 incremental credit and CDE credit towards licensure renewal.  With this approval, D11 advertised the event to all teachers in the district, which produced strong attendance by current D11 teachers.
