SW268 – History of the Southwest since the Mexican War

The adaptation of Native American and Hispanic peoples to Anglo-American culture and politics; the causes and consequences of the loss of Hispanic lands; the evolution of family life and religious practices; indigenous views of modernity. Films, artistic expressions, and works of fiction as well as historical sources. No prerequisites. May meet either the Critical Perspectives: Global Cultures or Social Inequality requirement. (Not offered 2017-18).
