SP325 – Modern Hispanic American Literatures and Cultures

Focuses on the cultural production following emancipation from Spanish and Portuguese colonial rule. Works reflect the main cultural and historical processes as well as the intellectual projects of the post-independence period. Examines neoclassicism, romanticism, liberalism, realism, indigenismo, gauchesca, as well as modernism and the early literary vanguards.

Prerequisite: Spanish 306.
