Origins of Theatre: Ritual, Greek Tragedy, and Early Comedy
A study of the birth and evolution of Western theatre from its ritualistic origins. The course investigates plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, and Aristophanes and their importance in establishing a crucial aesthetic and philosophical groundwork for theatre as a necessary part of human experience.
