A. Content Outline/Tech Spec II. Scripting Language/Databases/Plug-Ins A. Consultants All outsourced work must meet the following criteria: 1) ASP code base must be used B. ASP (Active Server Pages) or ASP.net is preferred for campus authors. C. Cold-fusion/PHP ColdFusion will be supported until conversion for our site can be completed. PHP will be provided to allow those constituencies who have developed PHP sites and wish to be hosted here at Colorado College. Sites utilizing these languages will lose their ability to be hosted under the www.coloradocollege.edu domain. D. Databases Until a central SQL database can be created, support for the following technologies will be allowed: 1) Access ODBC E. Web Authoring Tools Tools supported for all Colorado College’s web authors will be Macromedia DreamWeaver or Microsoft FrontPage. Support for alternate editors will be for code-editing support only. F. E-Commerce VeriSign Payflow Link will be the preferred method for e-commerce hosted on CC web servers. All other methods must be hosted off-campus. G. File-Naming Conventions File names should be lower-case, no spaces. Image files for external site (section home pages, navigation buttons) should follow same format as the others. H. Title tags and sublevel page title tags CC | Site section is sufficient: "CC | Athletics ". I. Plug-ins If users need plug-ins to view site content, provide a link to the site to download it. A. Global If the site content is part of materials for “external” audiences, site authors must utilize CC global navigation on all pages. If part of the internal site, ie. department pages, use of the global navigation is encouraged minimally for the home page, if not all key sections. B. Footer A footer with contact information must be listed, along with e-mail address for contacting authors/web master of content. CC logo can also lead back to external home page. C. External site left-navigation graphics External pages should all feature the blue/dark blue side navigation bar. For help adding buttons see this file. IV. Content A. Accuracy and timeliness Web authors are responsible for accuracy and timeliness of their content. All sites should be copy-edited and fact-checked. Each department or office that publishes information is responsible for maintaining content. Ownership information must be clearly labeled and linked so inquiries on published documents can be directed properly. B. Archiving/Deletion of files Pages that are obsolete or redundant will be deleted after authors are contacted. This refers primarily to external site content, not faculty/course pages. Faculty members are responsible for checking the accuracy of their pages and for confirming that links are still valid. A single point of contact for each department should be selected to alleviate confusion on content accuracy. C. Advertisement No advertisement from outside the college will be allowed for posting. D. Copyright Site authors are responsible for the copyright of site materials. Each page should have a link to the CC copyright policy: The following statement is provisional, pending an official statement

For use that goes beyond the simple downloading, viewing, listening to, or making a limited number of copies in any format for personal non-commercial use, please contact the author of the web page for permission. Personal pages Personal pages of faculty, staff and students should be clearly labeled as such so that visitors can distinguish between official publications from the College and unofficial documents. A disclaimer should be listed on the welcome page. CC’s Web site will not be a vehicle for the purpose to abuse, threaten (individually or collectively), or violate state or federal laws. Disclaimer: Content posted by individuals and students reflect their own perspective, interests and activities. These postings do not implicitly or explicitly represent official positions and policies of CC. Individual authors assume responsibility for the content. H. Email newsletters CC site authors that wish to send out e-mail newsletters must include Subscribe/Unsubscribe Information with every email. Alternative text and/or a link to a web page is advised for e-newsletters. All web pages listed under CC must adhere to the following basic guidelines to assist individuals with disabilities: - Navigational elements must be descriptive. If a graphic is used for
navigational purposes, the graphic must include an alt-tag description. - No frames should be used. - Nested tables can’t go beyond three levels deep - Provide text summaries for graphs and charts - Identify document language - Provide text equivalents to all multimedia: animation, audio and video.
