Adopt-A-Student Program

Dear New Student:

Welcome to Colorado College! The Student Alumni Association (SAA) wants to help ease your transition into the Colorado College and Colorado Springs communities with the Adopt-A-Student program. This special program matches interested new students with current upperclassmen, CC staff, local alumni host families who serve as mentors and help introduce students to the campus and local community.

What is this program?
While you are here, you may want an occasional change of scenery or an opportunity to be off campus in the larger Colorado Springs community. This program matches first-year students with current juniors and seniors or local CC alumni according to common interests. Many students enjoy ongoing relationships with their adopted hosts and mentors well beyond their first year.

Who will be my host or mentor?
Our volunteer mentors reflect a wide range of individuals each dedicated to easing your transition to Colorado College. You are matched with a mentor or host based on your answers to the questionnaire linked below.

When will I be matched?
The committee begins the matching process as soon as your application is received. After the matching, mentors and hosts are given information about their adopted students and are encouraged to make contact with you before you arrive on campus.

What does the program involve?
To help you get acquainted with your mentor or host there will be a few planned activities during the first semester you are on campus. Beyond these activities, what you do is up to you and your mentor or host, it can be as much or as little as you like!

Where will I meet my host or mentor?
Save the date! Plan to meet your mentor or host at the Adopt-A-Student picnic on Saturday, August 25, at 5 p.m. at the black and gold tent next to the NSO tent.

How do I sign up?
Please submit the online Adopt-A-Student Questionnaire NO LATER than 5 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012.
