Dear Class of 2008,

Yes, we are SENIORS! This is our last year of school, and in a few short months we will be graduating. However, we still need to learn a lot and enjoy a lot of good times before we graduate. Your class officers have been working hard this summer to make sure this year is the best yet. I’m writing to tell you about the Senior Year Experience (SYE) program. Some of you may know about it, but for those who do not it is a program put on by the Alumni and Parent Relations office and your senior class officers. It is meant to help you get through your senior year, and give you resources for after you graduate.

The Class Officers are in charge of events such as Jazzfest, Bagels and Brew, 100 Days ‘Til Graduation, and the entire Senior Year Experience calendar as well as Commencement and our class reunions. The outstanding group of officers you elected include: Brian Hall, President; Ash Merscher, Vice President; Kelly Hugger, PR and Communications; and Turner Resor, Finance and Web Design.

So far, the events will include everything from a workshop on how to network during a cocktail hour to how to deal with tough life issues like being diagnosed with cancer. We will also be covering finances, community service, nonprofit jobs, interviewing skills and cooking. If you want to learn more about us and see a complete schedule of the events we are planning you can visit our website at www.ColoradoCollege.edu/SYE. You will be receiving reminders in your Worner Box throughout the year. We will have over ten events, and each one you attend betters your chances of winning a portion of the hundreds of dollars worth in SYE prizes being given out at the end of the year.

Check out the enclosed SYE schedule and post it on your refrigerator. Each event will be specifically designed to prepare our class to take on the real world and make a positive impact. Whether you plan to attend graduate school, travel, or get a job these events will help you be pertinent to the challenges you will face. Avoid feeling overwhelmed at the end of the year…come to the SYE events and prepare yourself ahead of time for the challenges presented by life after graduation.

If you have questions, concerns, or ideas we would love to hear them. Have a great school year and welcome back!

Sincerely,

Brian Hall, President
and your 2008 Senior Class Officers
