Dear Vocal Arts Symposium Colleagues, Participants, and Friends:
Due to Colorado College budget cuts, the collaboration between Colorado College
and Opera Theatre of the Rockies to produce the three-week intensive training
and performance program, Vocal Arts Symposium, is no longer possible. After
careful consideration of the current economic climate and the future stability of
Opera Theatre of the Rockies, it is with regret that Vocal Arts Symposium 2010
will be canceled.
I am very grateful for this wonderful program and for the collaboration we have
shared with Colorado College over the past eleven summers. This program has
garnered national prominence and has provided amazing opportunities for
singers from Colorado and from around the globe. Our faculty of internationally
renowned performers/teachers has provided the highest caliber of training to the
many hundreds of participants. These participants have thrilled our audiences
with opera, music theater, and jazz, and it is my hope that the future will enable us to
resume this joyous effort.
