We gererally meet informally every Tuesday night from 6:30 to dark to practice our skills with the rapier (fencing) and sword (termed ‘heavy’ fighting). (Directions) Currently this is at Immanuel Lutheran School. This is the main event for Dragonsspine, so you are likely to find anyone you want to see there. Drumming and Beledi are also there some nights.
Light weapons combat is known variously as rapier combat and fencing. It seeks to recreate the fighting styles used in the renaissance. Practices are setup to allow people to get together, learn and develop their skills. Costuming is optional. Participants must meet armor requirements to fence; however, some gear is available to be borrowed at the practice. Male fighters must wear groin protection.
Heavy weapons combat recreates the art of armored warfare and tournament during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Practices are setup to allow people to get together, learn and develop their skills. Costuming is optional. Participants must meet armor requirements to fight. Gear can be borrowed, and fighters must wear groin protection. Heavy fighting does not use actual steel weapons for safety purposes. Instead, weapons are made from rattan, a dense wood that simulates the weight of a sword.
