Karen KleinAssistant to V.P. for Student Life/Dean of Students |
|
Karen Klein started at Colorado College in the summer of 2005. Karen is a near Colorado Springs native who has also lived in Illinois, Ohio and Florida. Her career path to the higher education community has been filled with many detours. After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a bachelor of science degree in journalism, she started a career in residential property management, a field she knew almost immediately was not her calling. From there she moved into commercial property management where she stayed for over eight years, eventually managing over 1 million square feet of neighborhood shopping center space and office buildings. Another turn in the road brought her to the non-profit world, where she has worked for the national CEO of Junior Achievement Worldwide, the CEO of the Economic Development Corporation and now for the vice president for student life where her budgeting skills have quickly made her indispensable to the division. Karen is married to Jarod with two older sons, Nicholas and Adam. She is passionate about golf and reading and loves working in the college environment. You will often see her sitting under a tree, book in hand.
