Breaking Bread Program
All Faculty and staff are invited to host students in their home with support from the “Breaking Bread” program. In order to encourage a greater sense of community for our students, the college provides funds to support any staff member or professor who invites students to his or her home for a meal. This is not intended to support restaurant meals or field trips, but rather to encourage informal meals in homes in order to expand the opportunity for special contacts between students and Colorado College faculty and staff.
The budget will provide funds to reimburse faculty and staff (modestly) for the cost of groceries by providing receipts to the Office of Student Life, Armstrong 100. We estimate groceries would average $5 per person, and, of course, include yourself and your family. (Because of the strictness of Colorado law, you are advised not to serve alcohol at “Breaking Bread” meals, nor will you be reimbursed for alcohol cost).
Please call the Student Life office, x6684 before you host students toward the end of the year if you want to be assured of reimbursement, since funding is limited.
You might want to consider doing something just before or after campus events, such as lectures, concerts, or athletic games. Last year, there were almost 200 Breaking Bread get-togethers. These meals really enhance the feel of community at CC. I hope you will take advantage of this program.
Thank you.
