This year 20 Partners invested 400 volunteer hours and $2,000 in the El Paso County Bar Foundation (EPCBF), feeling that our collective skills and money would benefit the Colorado Springs legal community. We conducted the following projects: 1. The primary purpose of our EPCBF investment was to develop and launch the Attorney Referral for Non-Profits Project (ARNP). The ARNP is a web-based program that links attorneys willing to provide pro bono assistance with non-profit organizations in need of corporate legal services. STVP volunteers wrote the content for the ARNP website then contacted a local marketing firm, to construct a professional, interactive website that will be fully functioning by the end of May. In addition, the local firm matched STVP's $2,000 contribution by providing an additional $2000 of pro bono service. Volunteers also recruited attorneys willing to assist non-profits and informed non-profits about the new program. One Partner raised and additional $1,500 to fund living expenses this summer so that he can continue to work on the ARNP. 2. Other volunteers worked to assist members of the immigrant community by developing information cards and brochures concerning immigrant rights. These project volunteers also helped to coordinate a legal clinic in which immigrants could consult lawyers about their rights. Furthermore, STVP Partners informed 211 about new developments in domestic abuse legislation for illegal aliens and about available resources for immigrants in Colorado Springs. 3. STVP Partners also researched and distributed an informative brochure about consumer rights issues for members of the Colorado Springs legal community. STVP volunteers filmed a series of interviews to make an informational video about consumer rights problems facing the elderly community. This film will serve as a resource at the Penrose Library and elderly centers. A Partner also painted a mural at Colorado Legal Services to make the children's waiting area more friendly. 4. STVP Partners assisted the ELPCBF during Pro Se clinics (clinics where people who cannot afford representation can consult attorneys). At Pro Se clinics, our volunteers helped with client intake to maximize volunteer attorney time. A Partner developed a useful power point presentation that explained how to fill out complex court documents.
