Inspired by Social Venture Partners International, the following list explains the Student Venture Partnership's (STVP) central principles and practices. These values inform the ways we create positive social change in the Pikes Peak Region.
- Engaged Venture Philanthropy. STVP invests time, expertise and money in non-profits. We seek collaborative relationships with non-profits that last for one year.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit. STVP uses an innovative venture capital approach to achieve results in our non-profit partnerships and communities-based initiatives.
- Philanthropic Education. STVP Partners educate themselves and fellow students to become informed, effective, lifetime philanthropists. We foster ongoing individual philanthropy through hands-on experience and education.
- Community and Collaborative Action. STVP believes in the power of collective, self-organized effort. We are a highly participatory, Partner-driven organization that uses non-hierarchical, low-overhead operating practices. STVP strives to invest in organizations we feel we can significantly impact while avoiding partisan, religious or political activities.
- Mutual Respect. STVP respects the expertise of community non-profit organizations. We form close working relationships with organizations in which we mutually vest in the non-profits success.
- Accountability and Results. STVP is accountable to our Steering Committee, to organizations who support us, to our Investees, and to our community. We strive to achieve and document measurable results.
