Associate Director, North Carolina Agromedicine Institute, East Carolina University , Greenville , NC . Responsible for the management of the Institute's projects and overseeing the budgets and administrative reports for all funded activities. Dissemination of information on new research and project opportunities, facilitating collaborative project development, serve as spokesperson for the Institute at regional, national and international meetings and events. Interact with the agriculture, forestry and commercial fisheries populations served. Responsible for the management of the Institute's administrative staff and collaborative inter-institutional faculty and research staff.
2000 -2002
Adjunct Professor, Department of Agriculture and Extension Education, North Carolina State University , Raleigh , North Carolina . Designed and coordinated the NCSU/USDA Hurricane Mitch Recovery Project which provided training and developed extension materials to improve dairy production and processing sanitation procedures in Olancho , Honduras and Boaco , Nicaragua . Sabella has also represented NCSU as an Extension Specialist with its CONCADE initiative in Cochabamba , Bolivia and as an Extension Trainer for visiting USDA/Cochran fellows from Armenia , Central Asia and South Africa .
1997 - 2000
Director, Sabella Associates. Project Activities included:
. Development of the "Natural Resource Management" track for the
University College of Belize , Toledo Campus. Taught two courses, Integrated
Watershed Management and Soil Science at the college and developed school
gardens, greenhouse and resource laboratory.
. Project Coordinator for the "Sierra de Agalta Projecto Ecologica", in
collaboration with North Carolina State University , Olancho Honduras .
Project involves the development and implementation of three watersheds
management plans within the protected area & buffer-zones of the park.
Project will include farmer training, research and demonstration.
. Sustainable Agriculture Consultant for the development of an "Agro-
Ecology Center " at the Universidad Academica Campesina, Carmen Pampa,
Bolivia . The initiative involves the development of curricula, farm
demonstrations and the university research agenda.
. Project Consultant for the W.K. Kellogg funded North Carolina Partners
in Agriculture Project. Responsibilities include the development of
dissemination materials & events to highlight project impacts, as well as
project monitoring & evaluation.
. Evaluation of the USDA SARE Southeast Region Professional
Development Program.
1993 - 1997
Training and Education Director, Rodale Research Institute:
responsible for the design, development and implementation of all national and international training and education programs for the Institute. Specific activities included:
. Project Director for Rodale Institute's "Centro Maya Project" in the
Petén , Guatemala . Responsible for administering project funds, designing
new educational programs and creating new staff positions
. Conducted an assessment and advised university administrators and
faculty on the development of an "Sustainable Agriculture Demonstration
& Research Center " for the Universidad Academica Campesina, Carmen
Pampa , Bolivia .
. Designed and led workshops on seed selection, saving and storing for
Peace Corps volunteers and farmers in four sites in Honduras
(Siquatepeque, La Esperanza, Santa Rosa, Gracias).
. Designed and led a three week study-tour for St. Mary's College students
to archeological and agricultural project sites in Peten, Guatemala.
. Developed and implemented a monitoring and evaluation system for
the Centro Maya Project. Introduced teaching methodologies for extension
agents and organized focus groups for participatory community
involvement.
. Presented workshop "Charla Acerca de Agricultura y Huertas Organicas"
in four cities in Uruguay , Salto, Bella Union, Rivera and Tacuarembó.
. Trained and advised Polish extension personnel and producers on
production and marketing issues relating to organic farming. Korytniki

. Represented the Rodale Institute at the "Cuban Organic Agriculture
Delegation," Habana, Cuba.
. Presentation of organic farming methodologies for Honduran vegetable
and fruit producers for U.S. Peace Corps sponsored workshop, Tegucigalpa,
Honduras.
. Designed and conducted U.S. Peace Corps sponsored workshops for Uruguayan farm families on producing and marketing organic fruits and vegetables, Salto, Uruguay.
. Evaluation and assessment of the agriculture curricula at Lesotho
Agriculture College, Leribe Campus, Lesotho, Southern Africa
