Organic Food Buying Coop
Colorado College has begun a partnership with the Tres Rios Coop to bring organic food to campus and to foster a relationship with local farmers. Each week students, faculty, and administrators have the option of buying a box of fruits and vegetables or meats from local farmers in Southern Colorado and New Mexico . During the Spring and Fall all of the food from the Coop is locally grown; during the winter, when cold weather hits Colorado , much of the organic produce comes from warmer regions in California and the Northwest. Last Spring students involved with the Coop planted seeds with farmers as community service, and more such projects are underway for the future.
The menu changes each week, and anyone interested in seeing the menu or buying food from the Coop should contact organicfoods@coloradocollege.edu or Maggie Mangan, the student leader of the Coop, for more information.
