Chartering and Recognition
Download documents:

The Student Government Association is currently accepting applicationsfrom student organizations wishing to attain Recognized or Chartered Status! A couple things to keep in mind:

1. If your organization has had no previous relationship with the SGA then you can only apply for Recognized Status.

2. Every organization must re-apply every year to maintain status with the SGA. To see if your organization must re-apply this spring click here and check the "semester column." If indicated with a "2" then your organization is up for reapplication.

3. All applications are due FRIDAY MARCH 7, 2008 by 3:00 PM to david.carlson@coloradocollege.edu or to the Worner Desk.

4. For detailed descriptions of the requirements and responsibilities of Recognized or Chartered organizations, please read the corresponding cover letters.

Questions about anything should be directed to David Carlson, Constitutional VP at david.carlson@coloradocollege.edu.

Student Organization Budgets
Download documents:

This year, the SGA is trying to rework our budget process in order to make it more fair and transparent while also ensuring that student groups get as much money as possible. We are asking all student groups to submit a budget proposal to the SGA by February 13, 2008 at 5 pm (The last Wednesday of Block 5).

While this may seem earlier than usual (and it is) were are doing this for a couple of reasons. The all-campus budget process happens up until February 29th, so knowing how much student organizations are asking for allows the Finance Committee and myself to propose as large of a funding increase as possible for your groups. We also want to give more groups an opportunity to meet with the Finance Committee to talk about their respective budgets, so have extended our meeting times; we now meet all four Mondays of the Block from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. Please sign up for a time on the window outside the SGA office in order to meet with us.

We are not asking that your budgets be as detailed as an event proposal, as most groups don't have a concrete budget breakdown of every event they will do for a full year. We do ask you to include 2-3 paragraphs that describe your group, what your goals are, what constituencies you strive to serve on our campus, and how your budget is changing from last year. We would also like to know what you spent this year's budget on, so that we can look at your events for next year through the lens of what you have done this year. Finally, we would like to know what events you are going to put on and how much they are going to cost, finally allowing us to choose how much we will be funding you for.

THE MORE EXPLICIT YOUR REQUEST, AND THE MORE REALISTIC IT IS, THE GREATER THE LIKELIHOOD THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE A FUNDING INCREASE.

We will NOT be making exceptions for groups that get budgets to us late. If you don't have a budget in by 5 pm on the 13th, we will NOT be issuing you an operational budget for 2008-2009. We understand this may seem harsh, but we will not take money away from an organization who followed all our protocols in favor of one that did not, no matter how many members you have or how large your budget was this year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Adam Kretz at a_kretz@coloradocollege.edu or your CCSGA liaison. Budgets can be submitted to Adam Kretz via email and to David Carlson, the SGA Constitutional Vice-President, along with your chartering/recognition request.
