Ucross Ranch 7/22/05

The Ucross Ranch combines an artists’ residency program, community meeting facilities and a working cattle ranch dedicated to environmental stewardship, on their land near Sheridan WY. While Ucross owns the rights to the surface of their ranch, other parties own the sub-surface mineral rights. Because the owners of the mineral rights have priority, Ucross, like many land owners in the Rockies, must cope with the extraction of coal bed methane from below their ranch.
