Center for Service & Learning

My name is Tiffany Etter and I am a senior from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am earning my degree in History-Political Science with a minor in Latin American Studies. During my time at Colorado College I have been blessed with unique and amazing opportunities. I am a member of several minority student groups like the Native American Student Union, SOMOS (the Hispanic Student Union), and the Black Student Union. I enjoy learning about other ethnic minorities, their struggles, and ways to promote and celebrate diversity. I love to travel and to learn about new cultures and different ways of life. I studied abroad in Costa Rica for a semester during my junior year. I lived with a host family, learned a new language, and came to appreciate a beautiful culture. I have also had opportunities to travel within the United States. My two favorite experiences are when I went to Harlem, New York to learn about the Harlem Renaissance and when I camped all over Colorado for ten days with a biology class. I enjoy being a member of the Colorado College community because not only do we have opportunities to travel, learn and be a part of student organizations, we also have opportunities to serve. I have volunteered mostly with students and young children. I have tutored English language learners at a local elementary school, and I worked at a respite center for special needs children. I am excited to be a leader and a volunteer on this program to India because service, traveling and learning are three of my favorite interests. I look forward to meeting and working with community members, traveling in a country that I have never visited, and being exposed to a new culture.
