Gold Card / Gold Card Plus Account for Students
What is it? How can I use it?
Colorado College
is pleased to offer our campus community the ease and confidentiality of
a "one-card" system. Not simply an ID, the Colorado College Gold
Card is the key to many campus services including; photo identification,
improved security, controlled residence hall access, cash less transactions,
library access, sports/activity tickets, as well as many vending services
on campus such as laundry, and copiers.
A Gold Card will be issued to new students during registration. Subsequent
cards are re-issued for a $20 replacement fee. However, broken cards will
be replaced free of charge provided the pieces are returned to the Gold
Card Office.
Students are required to have a Gold Card in their possession at all times
and present it to the Campus Security or other college officials whenever
requested. It is considered a serious conduct violation to transfer, deface,
or alter a Gold Card. For the protection of our campus community, anyone
found to have misused a card will be subject to disciplinary action.
Cardholders are responsible for immediately reporting a lost or stolen card.
After business hours or on the weekends, reports should be made to Campus
Security, 719-389-6707. During business hours, walk-in or call the Gold
Card Office. All services are deactivated once the card has been reported
lost/stolen to prevent possible misuse by another party. The cardholder
will not be able to gain access to any location requiring a Gold Card until
the card is re-activated or replaced. Once a theft report is on file with
Campus Security or other law enforcement agency, a replacement card will
be issued free of charge.
Value, convenience, safety, and service are our primary concerns in the
Gold Card Office. With a one-card campus, we are able to manage our student's
assets with greater ease and accountability. The magnetic swipe stripe on
the back of the Gold Card ensures fewer keying errors, controls access into
resident halls, speed entry into the dining hall, and (combined with a Gold
Card Plus Account) provides cash less transactions for all campus services.
Gold Card Plus Account
When funded, the Gold Card acts as a debit card on campus; however, this card does not have an interest rate or the potential for students to get in over their heads financially. Each purchase is automatically deducted from the account balance, so students do not have to worry about carrying cash to take care of the little things that occur during the day.The Gold Card Plus Account is used to purchase goods and services on campus. It is not your Student Account. Located in the Business Office, Student Accounts is where all tuition, housing, and meal plan payments are received and recorded.
The Gold Card is accepted at all on campus locations including; Rastall Dining Hall, Benji's, Wild Sage, Jazzman's Cafe, the C-Store, Worner Desk, Mail Room, and the Colorado College Bookstore.
The Gold Card is not an ATM/Cash card. Refunds are given only at the end of the semester. Exceptions are made for withdrawal, leave of absence, transfer, etc. To request a refund, contact the Gold Card Office. The balance will be transferred to Student Accounts and is first applied to any debts owed Colorado College. Credit is then disbursed by check in 2 to 3 business days.
Due to federal banking regulations, students may not use Gold Card Plus Account funds to make tuition or class deposit payments. Due to copyright laws, students are not allowed to use their Gold Card Plus Account to purchase printed materials directly from professors/departments. The Colorado College Bookstore will carry all printed materials required for a class, or the bookstore textbook coordinator can place a special order.
All transactions occur online and in real time. The Gold Card Office has a record of each transaction, location where purchase occurred, and type of tender used (i.e., meals, flex points, dining dollars, or Gold Card). Statements of the Gold Card account are available to students upon request.

Residence hall access
All of the campus residence halls are equipped with a door access security system. While a few of these doors are still activated by punching a number on a keypad, the majority of our security operates by an e-lock system similar to those used by hotels. Swiping the Gold Card through the door lock will open the residence hall only to students and faculty/staff who are authorized to gain entry to that specific location.
CC Bookstore and library access
Fund a Gold Card Plus Account and purchase textbooks, class rings, insignia clothing, gifts, and stationery from the Colorado College Bookstore in person and/or online! http://www.ColoradoCollege.edu/Bookstore . The Gold Card is the key to checking out books, periodicals, videos, and equipment at the Tutt library.
Sports / activity tickets
Access into athletic and theatrical events is just a card swipe away. Often on campus activities are free or tickets are steeply discounted when purchased with a Gold Card. All students must have their Gold Card with them to use the facilities in the El Pomar Sports Center, which includes the Carle Weight Room and Fitness Center, Honnen Ice Rink, and Schlessman Pool.
Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center
Colorado College's institutional membership provides all students free admission to the center, as well as library privileges and 10% off museum gift shop purchases when a Gold Card is presented.
Small value transactions (SVT)
SVT for items such as stamps, film processing, and check cashing are simple with a Gold Card. Present your card at the time of purchase and never worry about carrying cash again. Laundry, copiers, soda and snack machine access are as easy as inserting your Gold Card into the machine, and your purchase will be deducted from your Gold Card Plus Account.
