Online Gold Card Plus Account Deposit Privacy Policy
The Colorado College seeks to offer the best possible liberal arts education in a diverse community which supports intellectual creativity. Because the College wants to demonstrate its commitment to our communities' privacy, we are pleased to disclose our information practices related to our online Gold Card Deposit site below.
Colorado College is the sole owner of the information collected on this site which provides the secure infra-structure that facilitates online GC deposits. The site stores no deposit history, nor does it collect or store credit card numbers - those are processed through a third party vendor, VeriSign, whose privacy policies can be reviewed at www.verisign.com. Nor does our credit card processing vendor use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
The online deposit site takes every precaution to protect our community members' information. We use Secured Sockets Layer encryption (SSL - the best encryption software in the industry) to protect sensitive information online. While on the online deposit page, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when users are just surfing. You can learn more about SSL at www.rsasecurity.com/standards/ssl.
When an individual finishes making a deposit online, it triggers an e-mail to authorized staff in our Gold Card Office, containing the information needed to recognize the student and record the deposit in our database. Only the last four digits of the credit card are transmitted via e-mail, for purposes of verification should a problem arise with the deposit. You should not transmit confidential or sensitive credit card information to us directly using e-mail. Soon after it is received, our GC deposit processors print the e-mail message and permanently deleted it from the College's e-mail server. Therefore, not long after the individual submits the deposit, the only electronic record of it will be in the College's Gold Card database.
We also do everything in our power to protect individual information off line. All of our information is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, processing a deposit) are granted access to personally identifiable student information
The online GC deposit page automatically sends an e-mail to individuals with an official receipt after successful processing of their credit card. An e-mail will also be sent to the receipient of the funds notifing them of the deposit and when it will be available.
If we decide to change our online GC deposit privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
Finally, if you have a question or concern regarding these online GC deposit privacy policies, please contact Neil R. Austin, either via e-mail, phone, or mail:
