Residential Life and Housing Staff

The director of residential life and housing, the associate director of residential life, and the assistant director of housing operations are the senior members of the residential life professional staff, with offices on the first floor of Bemis Hall. The director is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the department of residential life and housing, while the associate director of residential life oversees the residential life program, including the student staff, the student learning experience, and student conduct issues. The assistant director of operations manages facilities and maintenance issues, faculty/staff housing, as well as the operations of housing such as renovations, fiscal planning and custodial services. All members of the residential life staff may be contacted via the residential life Web site or by calling x6618.

Area Coordinators and Residential Life Coordinators

There are six full-time professional staff who have an understanding of college student development and live on campus to coordinate the student learning experience after traditional class hours.  The four residential life coordinators (RLCs) live in Bemis, Loomis, Mathias, and Slocum. The two area coordinators (ACs) live in faculty/staff housing on campus and coordinate the student experience in the more independent communities of Western Ridge and the East Side small houses, in addition to supervising the RLCs. The six coordinators are responsible for such things as guiding learning and reflection of students, creating shared community experiences, supervising the resident advisors, providing informal counseling and advising of students, responding to student concerns and student conduct, and general facility oversight.

Central Office

The central office for residential life and housing is located in Bemis Hall. This staff consists of a room assignments coordinator, a faculty/staff housing and budgets coordinator, and an assistant to the director. The database analyst who oversees the housing data system and the card access system also works out of the central office. The office is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays and can be reached at (719) 389-6618 by email at reslife@coloradocollege.edu or by fax at (719) 389-7258.

Maintenance/Housing Operations

Each area of campus housing has a residential life staff member dedicated to providing maintenance support. Work orders are generated through the front desk of each area, and the maintenance staff member either takes care of the repair or works with the college’s facilities department to coordinate trades people or contract workers to respond to certain maintenance issues. There is a maintenance supervisor who oversees the maintenance workers

Resident Advisors (RAs)

Resident advisors (RAs) are full-time, upper-class CC students who live on a wing, floor, house or apartment with residents. Each RA is responsible for implementing the mission of the college through developing relationships with students, creating and facilitating opportunities for learning and community development, assisting with responses to student and facility needs, and communicating and upholding policies and community standards. RAs are the first resource for students when they have questions or need assistance in their living environment.

Cultural Program Coordinators

Language house cultural program coordinators (CPCs) serve as live-in educators in each language house program. They create cultural experiences for students living in the houses, help students transition to and from abroad programs, as well as assist residential life with policy enforcement and community building. Each CPC is visiting from a different country, speaks the language of the house, and brings his/her cultural experiences to residents in the house.

Desk Coordinators and Front Desk Operations

Desk coordinators are members of the residential life staff who manage each front desk from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on weekdays. After these hours, the desks are staffed by student staff members. Loomis, Mathias, and Slocum have a front desk staffed from 8 a.m.–midnight on weekdays and from 11 a.m.–2 a.m. on weekends. The Bemis desk is staffed from 8 a.m.–11 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.–12 a.m. on weekends. When the desks are not open, there is a student staff member on call in each area.
