Financial Aid

The financial aid office determines student eligibility for financial aid, administers federal programs regulated by the Department of Education, coordinates most institutional scholarships, and coordinates all on-campus student employment and off-campus community service work-study jobs, and advises students who have financial concerns. For more information and application forms, visit the financial aid office in Cutler Hall or see the financial aid office web site for forms, timelines, helpful links, and policies.

How to Apply

If you want to be considered for financial aid, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15 prior to the academic year for which you want aid. If you are applying for financial aid for the first time, you will also be required to file the PROFILE application with the College Scholarship Service and submit federal tax and W-2 forms for your parents and yourself by March 1. If you are currently receiving financial aid at Colorado College, you will be notified in December of the application process requirements for the upcoming year. Once you complete the application requirements, the financial aid office staff will review and evaluate your eligibility for financial assistance.

Qualification for Aid

Your eligibility for financial aid is based on information you provide in the application process. If you meet the priority deadlines, the financial aid office will attempt to meet your aid eligibility.

Terms of Awards

In most cases if you receive a Colorado College need-based grant, scholarship, or endowed funds as part of your financial aid award, we will renew these funds automatically each year at the same level plus an amount that reflects the percentage increase in tuition. You must reapply each year with the FAFSA to determine your eligibility for federal and state aid.

All financial aid recipients must be in good academic standing and have made satisfactory progress toward a degree, as defined by the dean and stated in the Financial Aid Policies Handbook (available on the web at: www.coloradocollege.edu/financialaid/handbook/) and the Catalog of Courses. If you receive a scholarship or award from another source, you must notify and have the funds forwarded directly to the financial aid office. See the Financial Aid Policies Handbook for more information on how outside scholarships might affect a financial aid award or affordability plan.
