Dining Services

Students living on campus, except those living in the Western Ridge Apartments, must purchase a meal plan. There are a variety of meal plans to choose from. Each meal plan allows you to eat in Rastall Dining Room or the numerous retail venues on campus. Rastall Dining Room offers all-you-care-to-eat dining, offering a grill, salad bar and assorted fresh house-made entrees. Entrée choices also include vegetarian, vegan and glutton free meals. Benjamin’s is a mini food court featuring Bowls, a Taqueria, the Grill, and Grab ’n Go meals, beverages and snacks. Colorado Coffee offers coffee, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and beverages for meals on the run. Preserve, in the Western Ridge Apartments is a combination of a bistro café and a local food market. The café offers local, organic, fresh, light dining selections including entrees, pizza, wraps, sandwiches, espresso drinks, and smoothies.  Additionally this location offers some grocery items such as organic fresh produce, all natural meats, local cheeses, grains, and convenience-style “ready to eat” meals such as salads, meats, entrees, and sushi. Local Goods, a convenience store located in Mathias Hall offers food and sundry items in addition to light hot snack options.

Students may change meal plans during the first two weeks of the semester, after which they may only change to a plan with a greater number of Tiger Bucks. Students may use Tiger Bucks or cash to pay for a guest’s meals.

Students with health conditions or religious mandates that cannot be accommodated by dining services may apply during the first block of each semester for an exemption to the mandatory meal plan.  Application forms can be obtained from the Bon Appétit office located on the lower level of Ticknor Hall.
Students who live off campus may still purchase a regular meal plan, commuter plan, or a Gold Card for Rastall Dining Room and retail purchases. Menus are posted on the Colorado College Web site at the campus dining link.

Students can also use their meal plans for trips less than three days away from campus. The student pack out menu allows students to plan ahead for block break meals for groups of 10 or more, get-togethers with friends, and field-trip meals. Menus and order forms are available from the food service office in Rastall Dining Hall.

Campus dining conducts student focus groups during fall and spring semesters, an annual customer satisfaction survey, and has comment cards available at each food venue. Student feedback is very important to Bon Appetit.

The CCSGA-sponsored Food Committee, composed of students, Bon Appétit managers and chefs, and administrators, meets once each block to discuss campus dining. The committee meets to talk about concerns and ideas regarding our food service program. It acts as a liaison between the student body and Bon Appétit, brings student concerns to the committee, and brings the administration and Bon Appétit points of view to the students so we all can better understand all aspects of the food service program. Questions or concerns for the committee can be addressed to either the general manager of Bon Appétit or the president of CCSGA.

Student workers are hired each year for a variety of campus dining jobs. Students interested in applying for one should contact the financial aid office for a referral to a food service manager.
