First-year and transfer students select their first two courses (Blocks 1 and 2) by mail during the summer or fall (for January transfers). Early in New Student Week the students meet with their academic adviser to review their choices. Then, during block 2, first-year and transfer students select courses for the remainder of the academic year. Although most students have selected their courses prior to the beginning of the fall and spring terms, ALL STUDENTS MUST REGISTER AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH TERM - Blocks 1 and 5. If the student will not be on campus during that time, it is the students responsibility to notify the Registrars Office or the Deans Office so that the course registration will not be cancelled. Failure to register or to notify the Registrar of late arrival will result in a late registration fee of $25.00. In March, two weeks are set aside for preregistration for the coming academic year. During this period students meet with their advisers to plan their academic programs for the next year. Also at this time they may discuss a choice of major and vocational possibilities and review the students academic progress. Students must declare a major before registration for the junior year. |
