Books on the History of Colorado College Now Available
COLORADO SPRINGS -- Two new volumes of work have been published chronicling the history of Colorado College, which this year is celebrating its 125th anniversary.

Political science professor Robert Loevy's Colorado College: A Place of Learning, 1874-1999 is the third published history of the college. Loevy's book, however, is the first to footnote the original sources of the college's history with the first bibliography ever published about CC. "It is a scholarly document as well as a source of information about the college's history," Loevy says.

The first half reviews the history of CC and Colorado Springs, and the second part of the book emphasizes 1974-1999 and the college's unique Block Plan calendar.

Former dean, vice president for student life, and director of athletics Maxwell Taylor, now an associate professor of religion, is the editor of Colorado College: Memories and Reflections. This book includes memoirs from 14 faculty members and six administrators, all with a long association with Colorado College - some spanning more than 40 years.

"Memoirs represent one way we recapture the reality and meaning of our past by providing an opportunity for the readers to interact with these visions of Colorado College," writes Taylor in the introduction to Colorado College: Memories and Reflections.

Both books are available for $10 each at the CC bookstore, located on the lower level of the Worner Campus Center, and the Chinook Bookshop on 210 N. Tejon.

Loevy and Taylor will sign copies of the books from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the CC bookstore following the college's 125th anniversary convocation.
