Science Journalism at the Hayman Fire burn scar

Science Journalism at the Hayman Fire burn scar
Students in the two-block Science Journalism: Reporting & Writing about the Natural Sciences, study the Hayman Fire burn scar, northwest of Pikes Peak, visible in the background. The students examined the historic habitat of the Pawnee Montane Skipper butterfly, which was severely affected by the one of the largest known forest fires in Colorado. Studies have shown the federally threatened species is making a comeback.
