Call Out Boxes

How to Create a New Call Out Box for Links from the Website Browser

  1. Using the Website Browser tab, navigate to the page where you will be adding the widget and double click on the name of the page to preview it.
  2. In the upper right of the section in your page where you want to add the widget, click "Add".
  3. Chose "Widget" from the dropdown.
  4. In the left column of the dialogue box that appears, choose "CC - Call Out Box for Links"
  5. In the upper right corner, choose "Create New CC - Call Out Box for Links".
  6. Fill in the "Title" field using the naming conventions outlined in the Widgets Best Practices page.
  7. Choose the "Folder/Host" to save the content in the appropriate place for your site.
  8. Fill in the "Header", which is the text that appears at the top of your list.
  9. Fill in the "Name" field with the text you want to appear in the list.
  10. Enter the URL for any Web page, email address, etc.
    Note: For internal page URL's, do to include "http://www.coloradocollege.edu" in your link.  Start with the "/" from the next part of the address.
    Also Note: To enter an email address use the format "mailto:person@domain.com".
  11. Select the "Important" checkbox if appropriate.
  12. When you are finished, click "Save" or "Save and Publish"
  13. Your widget will now display on the page you started from.
  14. In the administration column of the left of the page, click "Publish Page" and then click "OK" in the dialogue box that appears.

How to Create a Call Out Box for Links from the Content Tab

  1. From the Content tab of the administration screen, chose "CC - Call Out Box for Links" from the "Type" dropdown at the top of the left column.
  2. In the upper right corner of the screen, click the "Add New Content" dropdown, then select the "Add New Content" option.
  3. Fill in the "Title" field using the naming conventions outlined in the Widgets Best Practices page.
  4. Choose the "Folder/Host" to save the content in the appropriate place for your site.
  5. Fill in the "Header", which is the text that appears at the top of your list.
  6. Fill in the "Name" field with the text you want to appear in the list.
  7. Enter the URL for any Web page, email address, etc.
    Note: For internal page URL's, do to include "http://www.coloradocollege.edu" in your link.  Start with the "/" from the next part of the address.
    Also Note: To enter an email address use the format "mailto:person@domain.com".
  8. Select the "Important" checkbox if appropriate.
  9. Select up to eight links from the "Links" dropdowns.
  10. When you are finished, click "Save" or "Save and Publish"
  11. Continue to the next set of instructions to add the List of Links you created to a page.

How to Add an Existing Call Out Box for Links to a Page

  1. Using the Website Browser tab, navigate to the page where you will be adding the widget and double click on the name of the page to preview it.
  2. In the upper right of the section in your page where you want to add the widget, click "Add".
  3. Chose "Widget" from the dropdown.
  4. In the left column of the dialogue box that appears, choose "CC - Call Out Box for Links"
  5. Type a term into the "Search" field based on how you have named your widget and click the "Search" button to shorten the list of widgets available.
  6. Click "Select" to the left of the widget you would like to add to your page.
  7. Your widget will now display on the page you started from.
  8. In the administration column of the left of the page, click "Publish Page" and then click "OK" in the dialogue box that appears.

How to Edit a Call Out Box for Links from Your Page

  1. Using the Website Browser tab, navigate to the page where you will be adding the widget and double click on the name of the page to preview it.
  2. In the upper left corner of the widget you wish to edit, click "Widget".
  3. Modify any of the fields you wish to change.
  4. When you are finished, click "Save" or "Save and Publish".

How to Edit a Call Out Box for Links from the Content Tab

  1. From the Content tab of the administration screen, chose "CC - Call Out Box for Links" from the "Type" dropdown at the top of the left column.
  2. Use the following "Widget Title" and/or "Folder/Host" fields to input information specific to your widget.
  3. Click the "Search" button.
  4. Click on the name of the widget from the list that you would like to edit.
  5. Modify any of the fields you wish to change.
  6. When you are finished, click "Save" or "Save and Publish".

Making Other Call Out Boxes for Anything

  1. From the WYSIWYG in any content item, enter the text that you would like to have in the call out box using the normal styling and formatting options.
  2. If you will be adding content either above or below the call out box, leave placeholder room (e.g. empty paragraphs) for that.
  3. Place your cursor where you will want the call out box, then hit Enter (PC) or Reurn (MAC) so that your cursor is on an empty paragraph line.
  4. In the "Format" dropdown of the WYSIWYG toolbar, select "div".
  5. In the "Styles" dropdown of the WYSIWYG toolbar, select "post-it" or "post-it-cream".
  6. Cut the content you want in the box from its current location and paste it into the call out box you created.
  7. The content should now be inside the call out box and retained its formatting.
  8. Continue to edit your Web Page Content item, then click "Save" or "Save and Publish" when you are finished.
