Find & Replace

There may be times when you find yourself making the same change on a page in a bunch of different places.  There's a tool for that.

The Find & Replace tool can halp you locate items in large pieces of content and can even help you substitute one word or phrase for another.


How to use Find:

  • To "Find" text without replacing it with something else, from the WYSIWYG in any content item click on the "Find" icon in the toolbar.
  • This brings up the "Find/Replace" dialogue box with the "Find" tab selected.
  • Enter the text you are searching for in the "Find What" field.
  • Select the "Direction" of either up or down depending on if the text you are looking for is above or below where you cursor was in the page before you clicked the "Find" icon.
  • Click the "Match Case" checkbox if you want to search for words with the same capitalization as what you have entered.
  • Click "Find Next".
  • In the background behind the dialogue box you will see the word you are searching for selected.
  • Continue clicking "Find Next" until the correct instance of your word is highlighted.
  • If there are no words found a message will appear.  Click the other "Direction" from the one you had chosen and try the search again.
  • When you are finished, click "Cancel"
  • If there was a word selected when you clicked "Cancel" it will remain highlighted after the dialogue box is closed.

How to use Find & Replace:

  • To "Find" text and then replace with other text, from the WYSIWYG in any content item click on the "Find and Replace" icon in the toolbar.
  • This brings up the "Find/Replace" dialogue box with the "Replace" tab selected.
  • Enter the text you are searching for in the "Find What" field.
  • Enter the substitute text into the "Replace with" field.
  • Select the "Direction" of either up or down depending on if the text you are looking for is above or below where you cursor was in the page before you clicked the "Find" icon.
  • Click the "Match Case" checkbox if you want to search for words with the same capitalization as what you have entered.
  • Click "Find Next".
  • In the background behind the dialogue box you will see the word you are searching for selected.
  • Continue clicking "Find Next" until the correct instance of your word is highlighted.
  • If there are no words found a message will appear.  Click the other "Direction" from the one you had chosen and try the search again.
  • To replace just the one instance of the word you have highlighted, choose "Replace".
  • To replace all of the instances in the content with the new text, choose "Replace All".
  • When you are finished, click "Cancel"
  • If there was a word selected when you clicked "Cancel" it will remain highlighted after the dialogue box is closed.
